Park in the car park by the Preux-au-Bois pond
(S/E) Walk round the pond clockwise; on your return to the starting point, keep the church on your right. Turn left onto Rue du Bois, walk past the old post office, then immediately go straight on into Rue de la Fontaine, which is a dead end. At the end, take the stony path on the right.
(1) Turn right at the first signpost for the Sentier de la fontaine des prés and you’ll come out onto Rue d'Hecq. Head up this road to the left and, at the bend, turn right onto Rue de la Grimpette. This path, lined with pollarded lime trees, leads to a small road. Note the automatic cattle trough in the pasture. At the junction, continue to the right until you reach the forest opposite a water tower.
(2) Turn left, then left again. Walk past the Maison Forestière de la Tenure and then the campsite entrance.
After the gate, head between plots 750 and 752 on the Laie des Brûlés. Cut across the Route Forestière du Pont à Chiens.
(3) At the junction, cross Route Duhamel then, about twenty metres further on, turn right and head towards the Quesne crossroads at Marrones.
(4) Turn right onto the Route du Pont towards the Arboretum and Étang David. 500m further on, take a footpath on the left running parallel to the road and emerge on the right opposite Étang David. Go round the pond on the left and join a path.
(5) Turn left to join Route de la Fontaine.
(6) Take the forest road on the right and continue straight on. Cross Route Duhamel. Just after this, at plot 834, a path on the right leads to Fontaine le Comte.
(7) Turn back and continue to the right.
(8) After plot 820, turn right onto the first path.
(9) At plot 809, continue to the left and, at plot 810, to the right. Leave the forest.
(10) Take Rue de Landrecies straight ahead. Ignore a path on the right.
(11) Head down Ruelle d’Avignon to the right. At the bottom, turn left to return to the lake car park (S/E).
