Route from the Celtic Spring to the Wolfenthal and Borneberg

Free car park at the Source Celtic in Niederbronn-les-Bains.

(S/E) Head towards the car park entrance and take the Red Rectangle GR®53 signposted path on your left, which climbs through the woods and leads onto Rue des Acacias. Turn right to reach a restaurant.

(1) Red Ring markings

Head left onto the tarmac path that runs alongside the road to reach the swimming pool.

(2) Turn left and take the unpaved road on the left, which goes uphill, to reach a junction.

(3) Blue Ring signpost

Take the hairpin bend on your left, which climbs slightly before quickly levelling out, to reach the Trois Chênes crossroads.

(4) Red Ring signpost

Take the steeply ascending path on your right to reach a junction at the top of the hill.

(5) Blue Ring signpost

Carry on straight ahead for 300 m until you see a path on your left. Continue straight ahead along the path, which takes you down a series of hairpin bends and leads to a path marked with a Red Ring.

(6) Green Ring markings

Take the path opposite, which winds its way down, and you’ll soon come out in front of the Heidenkopf Forest House.

(7) Yellow Ring markings

Turn left onto the tarmac road and, after 500 m, you’ll reach a crossroads.

(8) Green Triangle signpost

Head left, following the path which climbs gently at first and then very steeply for 400 m to reach the Col de Wolfenthal.

(9) Green Ring signpost

Turn left and follow the signposts to the Col de Borneberg.

(10) Yellow Cross markings

Take the path on your left, which winds downwards. The path turns left just as you see the road. Continue along the same path to return to the road you started on, which took you to the swimming pool.

Turn right to arrive in front of the Les Ak’cias restaurant.

(1) Continue to the right along the road, then take the path that descends to the left and leads you to the car park. (S/E).
