Description of the walk

Start at the Étang du Val Fleuri.
Marked route in a clockwise direction.
YellowPR®® markings supplemented by green arrows bearing the number 48.

(S/E) Set off in the opposite direction to the village. Follow the road for 250 m, then, at the bend, turn left onto a country lane which becomes a dirt track and follow it to a T-junction.

(1) Turn left, then take the first right 100 m further on. Pass through the farmyard, then turn right immediately afterwards. Follow the path. At the T-junction, turn right and continue to Haut Bribeau. There, turn left to rejoin the road (D37).

(2) Turn right, then immediately left onto a small track. Follow it, turn right to follow the edge of the field and continue to a T-junction. Turn right, then immediately left, and continue to the road. Turn left to cross over the railway line.

(3) Once on the other side, take the first right and follow the road. Then leave the road and take a path on the left leading to Haut Charil. Pass the farm on your left and continue to the right, following the road.

(4) Cross the junction and carry on straight ahead to the hamlet known as Les Communs.

(5) Turn right just before the farm and follow the track which branches off to the right after about 200 metres. Then go round the field on the left before turning right at the end of it. Carry on to Les Bouffetières.

(6) Turn left. Turn right after the second field and carry on to a T-junction.

(7) Turn left and follow the path for about 350 m before turning left again. Continue until you reach the road (D43). Turn left and proceed to a multi-way junction.

(8) Turn right, then immediately turn left to follow the path leading to Basse Mellerais.

(9) Turn right, walk for about 250 m, then take the first right and continue to the railway line. Then turn left to reach the tunnel that passes underneath and go through it.

(10) Once on the other side, turn right. Pass a pond on your left and continue in the same direction. Follow the path, which veers to the right after 250 m, and join a road near La Championnerie.

(11) Turn right and follow the road straight on until you reach a Y-junction near the Bois d’Ossé.

(12) Turn left, cross the hamlet and continue straight on to the Pont au Moine.

(13) Turn right and join a tarmac road at the hamlet of La Mare. Continue in the same direction, negotiate a right-hand bend and reach the crossroads at La Croix Chemin.

(14) Turn left towards La Chopardière, then follow the path on the right which winds its way before leading out onto Allée des Portes opposite Brielles Town Hall. Turn left, continue straight ahead round the bend to follow the path which bends to the right and further on joins Allée des Portes and then Rue d’Anjou (D43).

Cross with care and head straight ahead to quickly reach the Étang du Val Fleuri (S/E).

A lovely walk – many sections are sunken paths, so they’re very damp or even marshy at times after a few days of rain.
Lovely views over a pleasant, undulating plain.
