Description of the walk

Park at the top of Édange, on Rue du Champ aux Trous.

(S/E) Head towards the end of the street, then turn right to enter the forest via the path that climbs, to the right of No. 25. Walk up this wide path, known by the locals as the “car track”, until you reach a three-way junction.

(1) Take the path branching off to the right, which is on level ground.

(2) At the crossroads, take the path opposite and, at the next junction, take the sunken path that leads uphill.

(3) At the top of the sunken path, continue uphill a little further along the path on the left.

(4) At the end of this track, turn left and follow the path as it descends.

(1) Carry on straight ahead, rejoining the “car path”, and head towards Rue du Chap aux Trous and the car park (S/E).

A lovely little walk through a beautiful forest mainly populated by beech trees (some of which, as you head deeper into the woods, are truly ancient).
Be warned, there’s a steep climb from (DA) to (1), but it doesn’t last very long. Bear this in mind if you’re with young children, or when the path is muddy.
