Circuit starting from Haslach via the Sacred Well and the Urenkopf

Parking in front of the Haslach Tourist Office.

Signposting: Yellow diamond, ghost and hat (Hansjakobweg)

With your back to the car park, turn right onto Hofstetter Strasse and follow it to the left. Cross the stream and continue straight ahead for a few metres, then turn right onto Seilerbahnstrasse and continue to the junction with the Grünen Baum inn.

(1) Turn right and continue along Mülhenbacher Strasse, keeping to the left of the stream. Then, at the next intersection, turn left and continue to the next intersection.

(2) Turn right and follow Hansjakobstrasse to the end, then turn right onto Otto-Göller Strasse until the next intersection with Rotkreuzstrasse.

(3) Keep left on Rotkreuzstrasse, which climbs steeply until you leave Haslach and, after the last houses, joins Haslach Rothkreuz.

(4) Continue straight ahead into the forest. Don't miss the path that climbs up to the left, which is also a Way of the Cross. It crosses several wider paths, which you should ignore. The path passes in front of the chapel and the Holy Well (there are tables and benches for picnics) before joining the Hirschfelsenweg.

(5) Turn slightly to the right. At the next left-hand bend, follow the path that climbs up to the left, passing the Sandhasenhütte, where you can picnic with a magnificent view of the valley.

(6) Continue towards the Urenkopf, where there is a viewing tower offering magnificent views of the valleys and, further away (weather permitting), the Vosges mountains (there are tables and benches for picnics).

(7) After the tower, follow the path on the right that descends steeply. Turn left, then right and arrive at the Bohnacker crossroads.

(8) Turn left, ignore the next two paths on the right and continue on the left. Pass the Rotweinbänckle, then continue to the next crossroads.

(9) Continue on the path on the left, which, after a large right-hand bend, joins the Stimmel.

(10) Continue on the left, ignore the next two paths on the right and left to reach a large right-hand bend.

(11) Don't miss the path that climbs gently to the left and joins the Teufelskanzel (Devil's Pulpit). These are large rocks now partly hidden by trees.

(12) Continue to the right and, at the next bend, follow the path to the left that joins the Am Hessendöbel crossroads.

(13) Follow the path on the right, ignore the next path on the right and continue to a three-way junction. Take the path on the right which, after a sharp left turn, joins the Heiligendöbel.

(14) Turn right. The path then leaves the forest and enters Haslach. Keep left, cross Tannenstrasse, then follow Buchenstrasse opposite until you reach the junction with MuhlenKapelle (Mill Chapel).

(15) Turn left onto Mülhenstrasse and follow it to Grafenstrasse. Cross at the pedestrian crossing and continue straight ahead on Hauptstrasse, which turns left and then right to join Steinacher Strasse further on.

(16) Turn left, then take the next street on the right, cross the stream, then follow the path on the left to reach the car park where you started (S/E).

There are numerous benches and tables along the route for picnics.
