A lovely walk above Seelbach, alternating between woodland and meadows with beautiful scenery and the chance to discover lovely wooden sculptures. Please note that the start of the descent is sometimes quite steep.

Description of the walk

Park in the “Im Wiesengrund” car park near the fire station in Seelbach.

Yellow Diamond markings

(S/E) With your back to the car park, follow the road to the right, then, before the playground, take thefirst path on the right, then the next one on the left. Walk past a large building (Health Centre), then turn right and cross the small bridge. Cross the road carefully and take the path on the left which runs alongside the stream (the Schutter) until you reach the road.

(1) Turn left, cross the bridge, then take thefirst path on the right which runs alongside the stream again. Continue to the junction with Dautensteinstrasse.

(2) Turn right, cross the Schutter again, then take thefirst path on the left to Steinacker.

(3) Keep to the right. The path enters the forest and further on joins the Fischtendobel (237 m). From there, keep to the left until you reach the edge of the forest.

(4) Continue to the right, then follow the path to the left, Herbert’s Traumpfad. Admire the beautiful wooden sculptures along the way. After a short stretch through the forest, you’ll reach the meadows and the Mossmannhof.

(5) Follow the path to the right. At the next junction, continue uphill to the right to reach the Bergseppenhof further up.

(6) Continue straight on for a few metres, then follow the path climbing to the right. Cross two paths and continue to Weitersbacher Halde.

(7) Follow the path to the right, first along the edge of the forest, then through the meadows. After passing two buildings, the path enters the forest again. Follow it for a few metres.

(8) Do not miss the path that continues the climb to the right. Further up, it joins a wider track which you should follow to the left, then follow the path again as it heads right, still climbing, and reach the junction with the Unterer Wandweg.

(9) Continue to the left and take care not to miss the path that continues further up to the right to the Oberer Wandweg. Follow it to the left for a few metres before taking the path that zigzags up to the right to Wolfesbacher Wand.

(10) Turn left, then make sure you don’t miss the path that climbs further up to the right and joins a wider track where there is a shelter with benches outside.

(11) The path then continues to climb behind the shelter to Grassertmoor.

(12) Follow the path to the right to Grosser Grassert, where you should turn left. Follow the path to the next junction.

(13) Follow the path to the left, which winds down quite steeply, and further down you’ll reach a wider path which you must cross to continue the descent to the next junction with a forest track.

(14) Follow it to the right, continue the descent into the valley and, after a left-hand bend, reach the road and the Hammerschmiede.

(15) Continue straight on, pass a drinking fountain, then further on, cross the road with care and follow the path down through the meadows. Follow it to the Pfaffenhof.

(16) Continue straight on and, further on, reach a car park. First turn left then right, then, after another left-hand bend, reach a junction where there is a large farm.

(17) Go round the farm on the left and follow the road to the right to reach Omersbach and the junction with Schlossweg.

(18) Follow Schlossweg to your left. It then makes a first turn right then left before reaching the Schutter further on. Cross the stream and return to the car park where you started (S/E).
