A pleasant trail through woods and fields that climbs to the heights of Briarres-sur-Essonne, where the sheep pastures offer a magnificent panorama of the Essonne valley. A bucolic passage along the banks of the Essonne.

Description of the walk

Departure and car park at the church.

(S/E) Opposite the town hall, take Rue de la Gare (D25) on the right.

(1) At the stop sign, cross the road and continue straight on the D25 towards Aulnay-la-Rivière.

(2) At the three-way junction, before leaving the village, turn right onto Chemin de Pithiviers. Continue to an intersection 150 m away. Continue straight ahead for 450 m. The tarmac road gives way to a dirt track.

(3) When you reach another fork, take the right-hand path. Continue for 300 metres until you reach a crossroads. Continue straight ahead for about 400 metres, then take the track on the right.

(4) At the end, turn right again and then immediately left. You will arrive at the D27 road.

(5) Turn left for a few metres (be careful of traffic!) and take the first grassy path that descends to the right. Walk along the woods. You will come to an intersection at the top. Leave the path that descends to the right and continue straight ahead. Leave the woods.

(6) Reach the railway line and follow it on the right.

(7) At the intersection, turn left onto the bridge over the railway line and walk towards the water tower and the village of Dimancheville.

(8) Cross the D25 road (take care!). Continue along Rue du Moulin.

(9) Go downhill to cross the mill courtyard and the Essonne River. On the right, a shaded path allows you to walk along the Essonne and the Orville-Dimancheville marsh.

(10) When you reach Buisseau, go around the mill on the right to cross and follow the river again. Continue straight ahead, going up the tarmac road.

(11) At the road, turn left and cross the disused level crossing to reach Briarres church (take care, traffic!).
