Access: from La Roche Sur Foron, take the main road (N203) towards Annecy. Shortly after the Col d'Évires, turn left towards "Thorens-Glières". Follow the signs for Col des Glières (plateau), pass Usillon, Nant Sec and shortly after the hamlet of La Verrerie, cross a bridge and park at "Pont de Pierre" at the side of the road, at an altitude of 947m. You will already see the beautiful waterfall flowing along the cliff; you will soon pass just above it (in summer, the torrent no longer flows and therefore there are no waterfalls; the ideal time to enjoy the waterfall is in spring.
(S/E) From the car park (altitude 947 m), walk back down about 100 m and take the path on your right (wooden sign "Pas du Roc"); the path climbs quite steeply in wide switchbacks through a forest with a wide variety of trees, some of which have been planted recently (spruce, pine, beech, maple, alder, hazel, birch, ash, yew, holly, cherry, willow, among others; there are also raspberry and strawberry bushes at the start of the trail). You climb for a good while (the terrain is quite uneven in places with some scree) and you reach the start of a stony path with a chain that allows you to secure yourself for about 200 metres (this section of the route was carved out of the cliff side in 1830 and was used to transport wood to the kilns in the hamlet of Verrerie). Wooden steps make the climb easier; you pass under a rock arch and shortly afterwards, the steps end. Be careful in this part of the walk as the cliff is very steep; don't hesitate to use the cable. At the end of the tricky section, you cross a first footbridge; there is a small hollow before the start of the waterfall. You cross a second footbridge and arrive at a pretty promontory with a beautiful view of the valley.
(1) The trail continues through a pleasant spruce forest (discreet yellow markings). At an altitude of approximately 1,337 metres, you can descend to your right and access a small cave with a superb waterfall (be careful, it is slippery in places). Continue through the forest with a stream winding below. In several places, the rock has been carved out by the river, creating giant potholes (don't forget your camera). You will eventually come out at the "Champ Laitier Dessous" mountain pasture at an altitude of 1,380 metres.
(3) Continue in the same direction and you will reach Chalet du Plan.
The return journey follows the same route (S/E).
