Glières Plateau and Notre-Dame des Neiges Chapel

Coming from Thorens-Glières, once you arrive, park near the Glières Nordic ski school in Paccot.

(S/E) Follow the GR®96 southwards and cross the restaurant car park.

(1) Once at the end, take the path on the right and continue until you reach a junction.

(2) Head to the right, staying on the GR® which curves widely to the left and leads to a small car park.

(3) Take the track on the left, then turn sharply right to follow the track along the edge of the forest leading to the Notre-Dame des Neiges Chapel.

(4) Carry on straight ahead for about 200 m.

(5) Leave the GR®96 and head left along the track that forms part of the GR® de Pays. Pass close to several alpine chalets and arrive at a fork in the track after a sharp right-hand bend.

(6) Follow the path to the left (GRP®) until you reach a farm selling goat’s cheese.

(7) Take the track to the left (no sign) and continue to a further fork in the track about 150 m further on.

(8) Leave the GRP® and head down the path to the left, towards Les Mouilles. Walk down through the forest to the Les Mouilles mountain pastures.

(9) Continue along the track and head straight to the car park (S/E).

Much of the route follows paths.The section towards the Trou de l’Enfer, between (2) and (3), may be damp in places.
