Cape au Moine from Col de Jaman

A short hike, mostly along the mountainside, ending with a ridge that requires caution. From the summit, superb panorama, especially of Lake Geneva, which is only five kilometres away and which you overlook from a height of nearly 1,600 metres.

Description of the walk

Park in the Col de Jaman car park.

Signposts at major crossroads.

(S/E) Head north towards a large chalet. Go around the building on the right, then turn left to climb up to the mountain pasture. Pass the Cabane de Jaman located below on the left.

(1) Enter a wood and follow a path north-northeast then north. Climb up the mountainside in increasingly open terrain. Pass between numerous avalanche barriers.

(2) At a fork, keep right towards Pierra Perchia (ignore the path that descends to the left towards Col de Soladier). You will soon reach Col de Pierra Perchia.

(3) Then turn sharply right to climb Cape au Moine. A narrow ridge, which has a few tricky sections (watch out for the peaks on the east side), leads to the summit.

(4) The descent follows the same route in reverse to Col de Jaman (S/E).
