Description of the walk

Park in the car park in the central square of Cambiac.

(S/E) Reach and cross the D80, then pass the cemetery on the right. At the fork, turn immediately left onto the wide dirt track, Chemin du Roc, and follow it to the end. When you reach the tarmac road D18c, turn right and pass the poultry farm. Cross the hamlet of Ensansus and you will soon come to the PR®® crossroads.

(1) Take it opposite and follow the yellow markings to quickly reach the En Ricas sign. Turn left and follow thePR®® downhill to reach a stream.

(2) Cross it via a small bridge. Continue on the left along the grassy path until you reach a bend in the ground, turn right to climb up a small path and arrive at an avenue of poplar trees.
Turn right until you reach the tarmac road, then turn left towards the En Richard lodge. Continue until you reach the D59c crossroads.

(3) Opposite, take thePR®® trail, still marked in yellow. Enter the woods and wade across the small Olivet stream. Climb steeply up to the right to reach the D20.

(4) Turn right and follow the road to the entrance to the village of Falga. Turn left onto the road that descends and then climbs again, then turn right, passing between the castle buildings to reach a large open space and the village church.

(5) Just before the castle driveway on the right, take a dirt track downhill which crosses a stream and climbs back up alongside a house on the right. You will then rejoin the D20; turn left here. You will come to a four-way crossroads at the cemetery.

(6) Keep right, still on thePR®®, to descend and then climb back up the valley. At the next crossroads, turn 90° right onto the dirt track. Be careful here: do not take the path leading to a house. Follow it to the bottom of the valley, winding between the fields, then, after a right-hand bend, join the D18c.

(7) Take it to the left to reach a T-junction. Turn left, cross the hamlet of Montplaisir and continue to the D59 road.

(8) Go down this road on the left. At the next crossroads, keep right, still following the yellow markings. Reach the Ruisseau de la Saune stream, walk along its right bank and, following an almost horizontal path, reach a new four-way crossroads.

(9) Cross the road, then turn right onto the path that climbs towards a reservoir. Go around it on the right. At the end, after the small bridge, turn right and climb back up to the original junction with the D18c.

(1) Turn left and follow the same route as on the way out to return to the car park in the central square of Cambiac (S/E).

From Cambiac, signs indicating "Départ randonnée" (hiking trailhead) lead above the cemetery. Do not follow these signs. Instead, descend below the cemetery and immediately look for the trail on the left.
Apart from this minor issue, the route is very well marked.
We had lunch near the Falga cemetery, in an abandoned community garden, complete with garden table and chairs!

A lovely hike through the rolling hills of Lauragais. We didn't see a single person during the entire 18 km.
There is very little shade, so this hike is not recommended on very hot days.
The route alternates between trails and tarmac roads, but there is very little traffic!
There is one tricky section just before point 4 where you have to ford the river, which is difficult to do without getting wet or slipping! At this time of year, the river was quite fast-flowing!

A very beautiful hike through varied landscapes, often with great views when crossing ridges (we had sunshine and temperatures above 12°C for almost the entire hike!). There was quite a bit of tarmac, but on small roads with no traffic, which we chose deliberately given the generally muddy conditions. We had a very pleasant lunch sitting at tables and in chairs around the Falga market hall (a very nice shelter if it had rained).
Thank you for this beautiful route and the beautiful houses along the way.

We took the route in the opposite direction, heading down towards the campsite, but instead of going around the lake, we crossed the dyke and went down next to the gate.
However, it was difficult to find the start of the route on the square as there were no signs.

A very beautiful hike along the rolling trails of Lauragais. The route is well marked throughout, except for the start of the hike.
A signpost at the start, in the village square (town hall), would be welcome.
Difficulty finding the first signpost at the village exit.

A very pleasant, easy hike with beautiful scenery. You're on the hillsides in a windy area. With the Visorando app to guide you, there's no difficulty. I recommend it.
