Brunet Hut - Panossière Hut

The route passes through the Col des Avouillons before descending to the rest of the Corbassière glacier, which is crossed via a spectacular 200 m long footbridge over a 70 m drop. The high mountains reveal themselves after the pass in a grandiose setting.

This walk is part of a multi-day hike: A route around the Combins massif

Description of the walk

(S) Take the path opposite the Cabane Brunet, which passes under the lake. Continue along this easy climb to reach a crossroads of paths on the banks of the Ruisseau de Dyure de Sery.

(1) Continue straight ahead along the left bank of this stream until you reach another trail junction at a place called La Rionde.

(2) Now tackle a much steeper climb opposite and finish at the Col des Avouillons.

(3) Begin the steep descent on what remains of the Corbassière glacier. Shortly before the bottom of the descent, ignore the path on the left and take the path on the right to reach the Corbassière footbridge.

(4) Cross it and then continue eastwards to reach a crossroads of paths south of the vast Plan Goli.

(5) Take the left-hand path, heading due south, and begin the final, bucolic climb to the Cabane de Panossière (E), today's stopover on a bucolic climb.

Notes

Between (3) and (4): you will need to descend some 300 m to the footbridge because, due to the retreat of the Corbassière glacier, the old passage over this glacier is no longer passable.
Between (5) and (E): pleasant walk facing the peaks of Les Combins.
