(S) Start your tour in front of Weinheim main station, turn left into the street "Am Hauptbahnhof" and follow it until you reach "Werderstraße". Turn right there. Walk along "Werderstraße" until you reach "Bergstraße", cross this at the pedestrian traffic lights (on your right) and follow "Alte Postgasse" on the other side.
At the end of "Alte Postgasse", turn left, cross the Weschnitz and then cross "Grundelbachstraße" at the pedestrian traffic lights. Now walk along the Weschnitz (on your right) and "Birkenauer Talstraße" out of Weinheim.
(1) Shortly afterwards, you will pass the old buildings of the Hildebrand'sche Untere Mühle on your right. First, walk under the Weschnitztalbahn viaduct and shortly afterwards you will see the DAV Weinheim climbing area on the other side of the road. Walk under the Weschnitztalbahn viaduct again and pass the Hildebrand'sche Obere Mühle, now the headquarters of the company "Micasa - Internationale Wohnkultur".
Shortly after the left-hand bend, turn right into the entrance to the Südwestdeutsche Hartsteinwerke, cross the bridge and immediately after the bridge turn onto a narrow path along the Weschnitz.
Pass the Fuchs'sche Untere Mühle and the Fuchs'sche Obere Mühle (Hotel Fuchs'sche Mühle). You are now back on the Burgensteig and at the end of the narrow path you will come to a forest path, which you follow to the left.
At the next fork, continue to the left. You will pass the rather dilapidated Kinscherf'sche Mühle and, in a left-hand bend, a fountain.
(2) Walk above a few houses and turn sharp right at the next fork. Follow this path uphill until you reach a forest road. Turn left here. In the following left-hand bend, continue straight ahead on the narrow path. At the top, you will pass the back of the VfL Birkenau clubhouse and follow the narrow path until you come to a forest road again.
(3) On the left, a bench invites you to take a short break before continuing uphill on the forest road.
After a while, a narrow path turns almost at a right angle to the right. You can use the Burgensteig signpost (blue castle on a white background) to find your way. Stay on this path until you come to a T-junction with a signpost for Buchklingenweg.
(4) Turn right towards Wachenburg. After a few metres, turn right again onto a narrow path. Follow this path uphill until you come to a T-junction where you will meet a forest path again.
Follow this forest road to the left and you will first pass the car park for Wachenburg Castle.
(5) Then turn right through the gate and walk uphill to Wachenburg Castle, where you can enjoy the view from the castle courtyard. From the castle, walk straight ahead down a few steps opposite the gate and you will come to a crossroads with a signpost for Wachenburg.
(6) Follow the signs for Waldschwimmbad (forest swimming pool), which is the left-hand path marked with a yellow "3" in a circle. Shortly afterwards, you will see the Burgensteig sign again.
(7) At the end of the path, you can walk half-right down a few steps to a war memorial or turn left at this point and follow the fence.
(8) At the next crossroads, turn right. The path descends slightly. After a few metres, a narrow path branches off to the right. Follow this path downhill. At the end of the path, a few steps will take you back to a gravel path. Turn left here and walk to the next junction with the signpost for Frühlingsweg.
(9) Here, turn left towards the Waldschwimmbad (forest swimming pool). The path now descends continuously into the Gorxheimer Tal valley. At the bottom, you will reach Gorxheimer Talstraße, opposite the Waldschwimmbad.
(10) Cross the road and walk up the road "Am Schwimmbad" on the right-hand side of the swimming pool. Pass the Raubschloss hiking car park and turn left at the next fork. Continue uphill. After a while, turn sharp right off the gravel path onto a narrow trail. Follow this until you reach the next forest path. Turn right and walk towards a crossroads with a shelter.
(11) Walk past the shelter on your right. At the next fork, keep left on the gravel path. After a left-hand bend, a narrow path branches off to the left (look for the Burgensteig signposts). After a few metres, you will come to another gravel path and turn right.
(12) Immediately after a fork, the trail climbs up to the Goldkopf Pavillion. There you can enjoy the view and take a short break. Back on the gravel path, continue to the right. At the next fork, keep to the right. The trail now follows a bypass of the Burgensteig trail. After a few metres, you will see a wooden signpost on the left.
(13) Turn left here onto the narrow path. After about 10 metres, a path branches off to the right at an acute angle, up the embankment. Follow this path. After the embankment, it is clearly visible. Walk along this quiet forest path until you come to a gravel path. Here, continue to the right on the Burgensteig. At the next crossroads, walk up to the pavilion on the Geierkopf.
(14). Here you will find another great view and a nice place to rest. From there, hike back down and you will come to a narrow path, which you follow down to the right.
You will come to a paved path that leads you directly to the TSG Lützelsachsen clubhouse. Turn left in front of the clubhouse and then immediately right after the building. You can follow the Burgensteig sign (blue castle on a white background).
Go left past the sports field, then up a few steps. Turn left here and immediately right again in front of the half-timbered house into the "Holzweg". At the next T-junction, turn left and shortly afterwards turn right onto a narrow path along the fence (signposted Burgensteig).
At the next fork, keep right and turn left at the end of the path onto Blütenweg. The path climbs slightly again. You will walk through the vineyards and come out at the Hohensachsen cemetery.
(15) Here, turn left and continue to follow the signs for the Burgensteig. The path now leads you to Hohensachsen, past the Catholic Church of St. Jakobus and to the right at the main road ("Talstraße").
At the DRK warehouse, turn left into Brunnengasse and after a few metres uphill you will reach a signpost for Brunnengasse.
(16) At this point, leave the Burgensteig and turn right towards "OEG-Bahnhof Großsachsen". Follow the road straight ahead to the outskirts of Großsachsen, then turn right onto Winzerweg. At the next T-junction, turn left and at the next junction, turn right onto Friedrich-Ebert-Straße.
(E) Follow this road straight ahead for approx. 600 m until you reach the end of this stage, the OEG Großsachsen station.
