Brebotte walks

Froidefontaine was founded around 1100, when monks from Cluny established a priory in a marshy area. All that remains of the Benedictine monastery church is the 12th-century Romanesque apse. Three human heads can be seen on the cornice. The gravestones on either side of the portal date from 1750. The presbytery next to the church is remarkable for its size.

It will allow you to discover some very pretty villages: - Autrage and Novillard with their pretty half-timbered houses. - Petit-Croix with the Pégoud monument. - Montreux-Château with its beautiful chapel and the motte castrale, the remains of a medieval castle. Short excursion from Grandvillars to the remarkable lime tree

15 km south-east of Belfort, 4 km from the TGV station, Bourogne is a town that combines modern development with a rich historical past. This short walk through the village and forest will allow you to discover a rich heritage with several beautiful buildings, superb fountains and the ruins of the castle. Information panels help you appreciate these treasures. Another special feature of the route is the petrifying spring.

A circular route starting from Meroux, crossing the wetlands before heading up to the heights of Charmois and through the woods of Meroux. The path is stony for much of the route. Mainly flat, no difficulty.

This hike allows you to discover two military structures, Fort Ordener and Ouvrage de Meroux. It follows a pleasant route through the countryside. It is marked with a red disc.

This is a very pretty hike that will allow you to discover a charming village and its suburbs, an old synagogue and an "Arromanches" type bridge. It passes near the Porte d'Alsace area with the Fosses discovery trail, where you will learn to recognise the trees of our region. A lovely hike in the Faverois area, 30 km south-east of Belfort. You will discover a charming village, landscapes of fields and forests with beautiful ponds. In spring and autumn, you can observe many migratory birds.

A pleasant hike in Trévenans, 10 km south of Belfort. It takes you on a beautiful climb through the forest with lovely views. It joins the Sentier Historique des Bornes de la Principauté de Montbéliard (Historical Trail of the Boundaries of the Principality of Montbéliard). It ends by taking the Coulée Verte (Green Corridor) along the Haute-Saône canal with a very pretty view of the Southern Vosges. The hike is marked with a yellow ring.

This is the last stage before the start of the Grande Traversée du Jura. The hike is mainly through forest, crossing the woods of Sochaux, Fays and Goutils. At the end of the stage, you can explore the village of Thulay. Halfway along the route, there are shops where you can buy supplies in Seloncourt. There are also some interesting viewpoints along the way.

The aim of the walk is to discover the historical and natural features of the Bosmont Forest and the forestry operations managed by the Office Nationale des Forêts (ONF). You will be able to see the marks left by the work carried out between 1874 and 1880, after the Franco-Prussian War. The Belfort-Réchésy railway line through the forest is also still visible. A beautiful walk in the countryside of Lacollonge and Bethonvilliers. 10 km east of Belfort. Beautiful view of the peaks of the Southern Vosges. Countryside landscape watered by the Madeleine River. Beautiful old farms, a beautiful covered wooden bridge, a few beautiful ponds, an old mill... The walk is signposted.

This route passes by Fort des Basses Perches, which is part of the fortified belt around Belfort. An easy hike with superb views of Belfort, the Haute Saône and the Vosges mountains. This hike is signposted.

This superb hike allows you to discover the village of Lebetain and the surrounding valleys with their typical Jura landscape. The starting point is near the Swiss border, close to Delle, 25 km from Belfort via the expressway. My favourite part: a very pretty section through the middle of a pasture in a narrow valley with a small stream and numerous little waterfalls. However, there is a fairly difficult section with a steep path for about 50 metres. The hike is signposted .

A beautiful discovery of the region around the village of Larivière. In the clearing 10 km north-east of Belfort, this walk will introduce you to a varied landscape of forests, ponds, cultivated fields and pastures.

This bucolic, often shaded walk will take you past a myriad of carved stone markers adorned with inscriptions from yesteryear. The route is signposted.

Circular in short version with limited elevation changes, the fortifications overlooking the old town of Belfort passing by the Tour de la Miotte, the Porte du Vallon then the Fort de la Justice and its dovecote, the top of the Glacis, the national cemetery, then the Citadel Tower and passage at the foot of the Lion before crossing the Brisach Gate, all enhanced by magnificent views of the city, its monuments and its surroundings.

This family walk, starting from the Château Lesmann car park in Roppe, will take you to the distinctive Y-shaped Étang de l'Autruche lake and then to the Faré,the first line of defence of Fort de Roppe. Enjoy magnificent views of the Vosges mountains from Planche des Belles Filles to Grand Ballon. Finally, you will pass by the Maie farm and then near old gypsum mines (or holes), with views of the Jura and the Alps on a clear day, before returning to the starting point.
