Departure from Rue des Écoles. The route is marked with a sheep symbol.
(S/E) Head south, passing in front of the town hall. Look for the modern sculpture of Marianne on the town hall.
Turn slightly left onto Rue Haute, where you will find a stork's nest.
(1) Turn right onto Rue Basse, taking the time to read the information panel about the wash house and the guardhouse.
(2) At the Château fountain, turn left. Look carefully for the small turret of the castle ruins.
Continue along Rue sous la Côte and leave the village, following the right bank of the La Bourbeuse river.
Continue for over a kilometre. Don't miss the sign for the petrifying spring.
(3) Turn right just after the barrier. Keep an eye out for the sheep signpost.
There is a picnic table on the left.
Shortly afterwards, you will come to the spring "under the oak tree".
At the next crossroads, turn right and continue along the path that climbs slightly into the forest.
(4) At the arboretum, turn left. 200 metres further on, look for the two beech trees with anastomosis (a branch shared between the two trees). There is an information board.
Go around the water tower on the left.
(5) Turn right at the next crossroads.
Continue through the forest until you reach a large clearing with a superb view of Bourogne, the Jura and the Vosges. Numerous information boards provide details about the flora, local industry and an ancient Merovingian cemetery.
Continue along the path down towards the village.
Turn right at the first crossroads and then right again to follow Rue Bernardot, where you will find a beautiful wash house.
At the end of the street, turn left onto Rue de la Baie and then immediately right onto Rue Traversière. Turn slightly left and climb the stairs leading to the church.
Walk past the church on your right, go down the steps and turn left to return to the start of this pleasant walk (S/E).
