The hike starts in Bouziès, on the left bank of the Lot, near the church.
Red and whiteGR® markings on the circuit.
(S/E) Go under the Bouzies bridge and head to the banks of the Lot. Take the path that runs along the riverbank towards the east, in the direction of the river port. Pass the port, then the gardens. Go under the railway bridge and continue along the Lot on the towpath.
(1) Note about this path: it is carved into the rock at the foot of the cliff.
Pass the Ganil lock, still along the canal, after a right-hand bend, and join the road at a crossroads.
(2) Take the road on the left. Pass at the foot of the cliff, which is very steep at this point. A sign marks the start of the path that climbs up to Saint-Cirq.
(3) Take this path and climb up the hillside. Further up, you will come to a viewpoint on the left. Enjoy the view of the Lot here. You will then come to the crossroads of the town hall and the tourist office on Place du Sombral.
(4) Start your tour of the village here. Then continue to the Cirque de Vènes viewpoint, joining the D8 road to the south of the village and starting from the top of the cemetery.
(5) Follow the GR®36 on the left, Chapelle Sainte Croix. Climb up the hillside, staying on the GR®. After about 400m, ignore the turn-off to the right towards the chapel and continue straight ahead; then begin a short descent. Cross the D42 road and you will reach the viewpoint overlooking the Cirque de Vènes.
(6) Retrace your steps to return to your accommodation in Bouziès (S/E).
