Talange Red Circular

Park on Rue Ambroise Croizat, as close as possible to the footbridge. Another parking option is on Rue Erckmann Chatrian.

(S/E) Walk to the footbridge but do not cross it. Turn left and walk along the banks of the canal towards the Canal des Mines de Fer.

(1) Take care when crossing Rue du Démoti. Continue straight ahead, passing under the motorway. Turn left and walk alongside the motorway: this is the least pleasant part of the walk. The path leads to the banks of the canal, then to the roundabout on the D55.

(2) Turn right and cross the bridge. At the end, turn right again onto the towpath. Pass the waste collection centre and continue straight ahead towards the Talange lock.

(3) Before you get there, turn right to cross the red bridge. Go back under the motorway and follow the canal towards the new port.

(4) Cross Rue du Démoti again with the same caution and arrive at the Anstett footbridge.

(5) Take the access ramp on the left and cross the footbridge. On the other side, take the ramp on the right to return to the starting point. Head right to go up Rue Professeur Einstein, then turn right again to return to the car park (S/E).

There are signposts at the start and at several points along the route.

This route was created on the initiative of the Talange Town Council's Living Environment Committee and is featured on Visorando by one of the members of the "Talange ça marche" hiking club.

There are many reasons to enjoy this hike: for example, you can extend it by going to the new port of Talange. This adds 1.7 km to the round trip. It allows you to discover new infrastructure and a new neighbourhood.

Once you are on the Canal des Mines de Fer, you can of course continue south or north. The towpath to the north can take you all the way to Belgium, and to the south to Burgundy: you are on the "Charles le Téméraire" cycle route.
