Description of the walk

Car park at the Pierrevillers community centre.

(S/E) At the foot of the car park, with your back to the multi-purpose hall, take the narrow lane on the right. At the end of this lane, after passing another small car park on the left, take the dirt track on the right. Turn left at the next junction.

(1) Take the gently sloping path to the left. A little further down, do not take the tarmac road but take the path on the right (hairpin bend) and quickly turn left onto the path which levels out slightly, ignoring the first few turnings on the right.

(2) Be careful not to miss the junction with the path that climbs slightly to the right: you must leave what appears to be the main path at this junction. Then follow the main path uphill to the junction with theGR®5(marked in white and red).

(3) Turn right and stay on the path that leads directly to the Tour de Drince (viewpoint).

(4) When you reach the tower, go round it on the left and take the path down the steep slope on the opposite side: this descent features a few wooden steps and is partially secured with ropes. At the bottom of the descent, turn right and follow the path to the telecoms mast; go round the mast and its small hut, then turn right.

(5) Ignore the path on the left leading to Ramonville and stay on the path that branches off to the right, which takes you back to the starting point at Pierrevillers without any further junctions. Return to the car park at the community hall (S/E).

A lovely, varied route, despite being only 5 km long. The Drince tower is a pleasant surprise in the forest. However, after the tower, keep an eye on the children, as they may be tempted to skip the switchbacks and head straight down – this can be dangerous.

Apart from a double marker with the route ring found on the ground, which forced us to take a detour, Ras

A lovely little walk in the woods – it winds its way up narrow paths and takes you to the Drince tower.
Once you’ve climbed to the top of the tower, you can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view above the treetops (beware if you’re afraid of heights).
Then it’s a slightly steeper descent, but along a well-maintained path.
You pass through the orchards and come back to the car park where you started.
It’s actually quite damp even in summer, so make sure you wear shoes you don’t mind getting dirty... 😅
Thanks for sharing this route 👌
