Description of the walk

Park in the car park at the Fétan stadium, 325 Allée des Filiéristes, Trévoux.

(S/E) On leaving the stadium, turn right, following the ground markings, and continue to the end of Allée des Filiéristes.

(1) Turn left onto Route de Saint-Bernard (D6) towards Trévoux. Continue to the junction at the Base de Loisirs.

(2) Turn right towards the campsite onto Rue Robert Baltié. Turn left onto a small path, continue over the bridge to visit the lagoon, then return to the path. You will then reach a roundabout.

(3) Turn right onto the GRP® du Beaujolais au Bugey via the Dombes. Follow the red and yellow markings to a bridge.

(4) Take the stairs on the right to cross the Saône via this bridge. Stay on the left-hand side, then turn left twice, going slightly downhill to pass under the bridge. Continue through the small wood, then head back up to the Au Colombier restaurant.

(5) Turn right, enter the woods and follow the Saône. At the end of the woods, rejoin the road on the right and head towards a car park.

(6) Continue straight ahead along the path separating the Colombier lake and the Saône. Reach a footbridge.

(7) Turn right onto it, cross over, then turn left and walk round Lake No. 3, then round Lake No. 4, until you reach a small stream feeding into the lake.

(8) Cross it, turn right to continue along the Colombier lake. Return to the car park you passed earlier.

(6) Turn right onto Chemin du Colombier, then turn left onto Route de Saint-Bernard. Cross the Saône to reach the junction by the bridge you also passed on the way out.

(4) Continue straight ahead for a few metres, then turn left, pass the restaurant Chez Bibet, then turn left to rejoin the towpath, which you should take on the right. Follow this path to a junction just before a power line.

(9) Turn right, then at the next junction, turn right again onto Chemin de la Prière. Turn left onto Chemin du Gravier Vaillant. Join Avenue des Helvètes (D88a).

(10) Cross it carefully and continue along Chemin du Bois de Lys until you reach the Croix Faguin.

(11) Turn left onto Chemin de Fetans.

(12) Turn left onto Route de Saint-Bernard, then return to the junction you passed on the way out.

(1) Turn left and retrace your steps along the route taken on the way there to return to the Fétan stadium car park (S/E).
