Description of the route

Departure from the Tourist Office.

Circular mountain bike trail no. 49

(S/E) Join the D72 heading towards Ecromagny and Melisey. Continue straight ahead for 8 crossroads. Passing by the SEB International Service company, you will see in the distance at the top of a hill the Church of Saint-Martin, which is said to be the oldest in Franche-Comté (the original construction dates back tothe 5th century). At the ninth crossroads, turn left towards Annegray.

(1) After a break, continue along the road through the hamlet and join the D72, keeping to the right.

(2) Continue straight ahead on the road, then at the next intersection, take the road on the right towards Saint-Germain/Lure. Then turn left.

(3) After passing the magnificent Étang du Feu lake, take the small tarmac road on the right until you find a small path on the right. Take this path, walk along the pasture and you will arrive at a road.

(4) Back on the tarmac road, turn right and, once you have walked alongside the Étangs Carpe Rôtie ponds and arrived at the sign for Les Fessey, take the road on the left to walk alongside two typical farms before entering the woods. The paths wind through the woods and then arrive at a forest road.

(5) Take this forest road on the left and continue straight ahead towards the hamlets of "Les Granges Fouillots" and "La Grange Brulée". When you reach the edge of the woods, take the road on the left and continue straight ahead to Les Granges Fouillots.

(6) Turn left to reach a crossroads.

(7) To bypass the hamlet of "La Grange Brulée", stay on the road and go through four bends. At the fourth bend, turn left and then left again until you reach a star-shaped crossroads.

(8) Turn right and join a tarmac road. Take the small path opposite and you will come to "Le Vieux Étang". Then turn left, then right before repeating the operation. Continue straight ahead until you reach a small stream, then continue to the left. At the road, turn right towards Le Vieux Étang.

(9) Continue along the road and turn right at the end onto another road, before taking the first road on the left towards Les Brennerets.

(10) Stay on the same road. Then take the forest path opposite and continue straight ahead until you reach the crossroads at the edge of the woods. Turn right and join the tarmac road towards La Proiselière-et-Langle and Les Fessey.

(11) Head left, then left again to Langle.

(12) Turn right twice, then continue straight ahead to stay on the same path to Les Fessey.

(13) First turn right then left, cross the road, then turn left onto the track until you reach the road after La Cruée.

(14) When you reach the small tarmac road, follow it to the right and walk along the Breuchin river to finish the route gently. Once at the intersection with the departmental road, turn left to return to Faucogney and the car park via the same route you took on the way there. Don't hesitate to visit this Cité de Caractère (City of Character) in Bourgogne Franche-Comté. Every façade and every door recalls its rich past, from the Middle Ages to the present day. (S/E)
