Bettmeralp-Golmenegg circular winter loop

This pleasant winter hike partly follows the Aletschpromenade. Along this route, you will notice some beautiful old Valais houses. This route also offers several views of the Valais peaks over 4,000 metres.

Description of the walk

The start and finish of this hike are at the Betten – Bettmeralp – Bergstation cable car station.

(S/E) From the Bettmeralp top station, follow the Aletschpromenade towards Riederalp (south-west).

(1) Pass the Tana restaurant, located at the start and end of the circular route. Continue along the Aletschpromenade to Golmenegg (altitude 1894m).

Marked with purple posts.

(2) Leave the Aletschpromenade, turn left and head down towards the hamlet of Biel. Then follow the path to the end. Descend gradually towards the forest, shortly after the hamlet of Flesch, and continue straight ahead, following the purple markings. Then begin a fairly steep climb to return to the Aletschpromenade at the La Tana restaurant.

(1) Continue to the right, heading north-east along the Aletschpromenade to reach the upper station at Bettmeralp (S/E).
