Departure from Bédoin. Coming from Carpentras on the D974 or from Flassan on the D19, take the Mont Ventoux road, turn left at the war memorial and park there.
(S/E) Start the hike on this road (Chemin des Florans) marked with yellow signs. Beautiful cypress-lined avenue running alongside the cemetery. As you leave the village, the road narrows.
At the bottom of a small descent, follow the tarmac road to a place called La Font du Loup.
(1) Turn right towards Malaucène and Les Ardouins. Follow a sandy path that climbs gently between vineyards and groves. Further up, the woods take over.
(2) When you reach the D19, cross carefully and continue on the small road to the right towards La Dayane.
(3) At the first intersection, continue to follow the signs on the left, on the D19.
(4) You can visit the Chapelle de La Madeleine chapel at the mouth of the Combe Obscure.
Then continue on theGR® 91 towards "Malaucène, Combe de l'Aze". Stony and sunny for the first few metres, the climb then continues in the shade at the bottom of the valley. When you reach the cliff marked with climbing routes, the path turns right to follow it. The terrain on the left then becomes gentler but remains in the undergrowth.
(5) Shortly after a marker marked 44, you will arrive at the "Combe de l'Aze" point at an altitude of 601 metres. Turn left towards "Gros Pata", theGR®911de Pays, named on the IGN map "Tour des dentelles de Montmirail". There are about 50 metres left to climb via a balcony path to reach the ridge line (altitude 648m). Enjoy the scenery! The ochre quarry is visible below the Moutre de Cros. Further on, on the right, the vegetation sometimes opens up to reveal the Dentelles de Montmirail. Keep an eye out for theGR® markers to follow on a slight descent.
(6) Gros Pata, altitude 603m, turn left towards Sidoine on theGR®911. Begin the descent towards the village of Mazan at the bottom of the valley. The slope through the woods is quite steep and stony, then levels out. Further down, theGR® climbs back up on the left. There are several junctions, but the red and white markings are always there, so just follow them.
The path widens and follows the ridge. Further on, enjoy the view of Crillon-le-Brave on the left, above the quarry.
(7) At the D19, leave theGR®911, follow the departmental road for a few metres to the left and leave it at the entrance to the bend on the right, just before the water reservoir visible below
(8) Join a wide path that passes below the reservoir. Further down, a yellow marker turns left. Then take the hairpin bend to the right (there is no marker at this point). The descent is then via a stony path, which is a little difficult. Finally arrive at the edge of the quarries.
(9) At the intersection of the Gargorys and Madeleine paths, continue straight on towards Le Casal.
(10) At Le Casal, turn right towards Bedoin. Enjoy the beautiful ochre formations along the way.
Return to the tarmac on Chemin des Sablières. At the small pass of Floran, continue along this road which enters Bédoin, near the swimming pool and campsite.
(11) At the end of Chemin des Sablières, turn left onto Rue des Remparts, which leads up to the cemetery, and arrive at the starting point on the right (S/E).
