Access to the starting point: from Oberhaslach, follow the D218 towards Nideck. Park near the Hohensteinwald Forest House.
(S/E) Take the Blue Cross marked trail along the Petit Weinbaechel towards the Col du Wildberg.
(1) Turn right and follow the Grand Weinbaechel. Turn right again and pass in front of the Maison Forestière du Weinbaechel. Then immediately turn left.
(2) Turn left onto the path marked with a yellow rectangle.
(3) At the Schmeerbuchs crossroads, climb the path marked with a yellow cross to the Wildberg Pass.
(4) At the pass, continue along the path marked with a blue cross, then turn right onto the path. Cross a path.
(5) At the five-way junction, take the path on the left marked with a yellow rectangle.
(6) At the Préventorium de Gensbourg junction, turn right onto the path marked with a yellow triangle.
(7) Go down the path on the right. Cross the path and turn left onto the next one. Cross the footbridge on the right and then the bridge on the left. Cross the road (take care).
(8) Take the path marked with a red triangle towards Hirchsfels, then immediately take the path that climbs to the left up to the Hirchsfels promontory. Beautiful view. Continue along this path.
(9) Turn left onto the path that leads to the magnificent Nideck Waterfall. You may choose to descend the numerous steps to the bottom of the waterfall. Climb up to the viewpoint above the waterfall.
(10) Cross the stream and take the path towards Nideck Castle. Climb the stairs to the tower, or not.
(11) From the castle, continue along the path marked with a red rectangle. Cross the bridge and turn left. Climb up to the Nideck car park. Follow the road to the right for 700 metres (take care) towards the Col des Pandours.
(12) Descend the Blue Rectangle marked trail on the right. At the crossroads, take the Chemin des Pèlerins marked Blue Rectangle.
(13) At the Kasperlehep pond, continue along the Chemin des Pèlerins towards Oberhaslach.
(14) At Carrefour des Anlagen, climb the Blue Ring trail towards Château du Petit Ringelstein. Cross a path. Cross the castle grounds and descend the other side. At the crossroads, continue straight ahead.
(15) Turn right onto the path marked with a blue disc. At the crossroads of four paths, follow the blue triangle markings towards Hohenstein, then immediately descend the path on the right. Climb up to the promontory of the Hohenstein Castle ruins.
(16) Descend and continue along the Blue Triangle marked path. Turn right then left. Cross a path. Then you will reach the Hohensteinwald Forest House (S/E).
