To reach the starting car park, take the D218 from Oberhaslach towards the Nideck waterfall. About 500m after leaving the village, follow a forest path marked by a sign for "1er Sentier de sculptures contemporaines" (1st Contemporary Sculpture Trail), followed by a "P" half hidden by a branch, on the right for 300m, at the end of which you will find a car park.
(S/E) To start the hike, follow the red horse and yellow ring markings towards the south-east towards Sandweg.
(1) The first sculpture, "Le Peigne pour Éléphant" (The Comb for Elephants), appears after 500 metres.
Continue following the yellow rings and yellow crosses for about 40 minutes to reach Hohenstein Castle, where you will temporarily leave the path, continuing to follow the yellow cross and yellow ring to the ruins to enjoy a beautiful view of the valley.
(2) From the castle, return to the path by following the yellow cross, a blue triangle and a blue ring and continue towards Petit Ringelsberg.
(3) At the nearby crossroads (about 120 m), follow the blue disc markings that lead to the blue ring trail connecting the large and small Ringelsberg. Continue towards the small Ringelsberg, which is a rather surprising elliptical enclosure marked on the IGN map as "Gallo-Roman remains". Leave the enclosure to the north and continue towards the Kasperlehep pond, following the blue circles.
(4) A blue rectangle is added when our trail joins theGR®531at the "Anlagen Carrefour".
(5) The Kasperlehep pond is about 10 minutes away, then the path joins the D218 after 25 minutes. To reach the Nideck forest house, you unfortunately have to follow the D218 for about 500 metres, always following the blue ring and blue rectangle.
(6) The Nideck forest house is on the right-hand side of the road. Opposite, on the other side of the D218, is the start of the path to the castle. At the start of the path, two benches welcome hikers in the shade of majestic trees.
To get to Nideck Castle, follow the blue circle and yellow rectangle replaced by a red rectangle signs. These signs are a little confusing, as the trail is marked with a yellow rectangle on the IGN 3716ET map.
(7) Nideck Castle, of which only a tower remains, with no access to the interior, can be reached in 20 minutes.
(8) Continue towards the waterfall, following the red triangle, red rectangle and blue ring. After 10 minutes, you will reach a beautiful viewpoint over the gorge. The waterfall is not visible from this spot and our route does not include a descent to it.
Continue towards the Hirschfels rock following the red triangle and blue ring.
(9) The Hirschfels rock is very exposed and offers a beautiful view of the valley, but should only be climbed with the utmost caution by those who wish to do so and are capable of doing so , as a fall would certainly be fatal. Continue down the path.
(10) You should reach the D218 after 30 minutes. Follow the D218 towards Oberhaslach for about 100 metres, then take the path marked with a yellow triangle that starts off to the left.
(11) Just after crossing the Luttenbach, turn left and continue to the junction with a path marked with red crosses.
(12) Follow the red cross signs southwards to the sculptures.
(13) Return to the Sandweg with its sculptures.
(14) Follow the yellow rings to the car park where you started.
(15) Last sculptures. Continue to the car park (S/E)
