Description of the walk

Access: In Trégunc, head towards Lambell. At the exit of this large hamlet, turn right towards Pendruc. Pass the Domaine de Pendruc campsite and at the next roundabout, take the third road on the left, Route de la Plage. The grass car park is on the left.

(S) Exit at the back of the car park, cross the small road and join the coastal path.

GR®34 Red and White markings

Turn left, heading south-east, which we will continue for about 4 km. Walk along Pendruc Beach and, on the left, the first of the coastal ponds, Loc'h Ven. Continue along Kerlaéren Beach and Loc'h Louriec Pond. All along the way, the dunes, in a protected area, offer a wide variety of flora.

(1) Pass the access road to Kerdallé, which we will take on the way back, and walk along the edge of the Loc'h Lougar lagoon, the largest of them all. Continue on and pass the Loc'h Wring and Loc'h ar Guer lagoons. You will see the Pointe de Trévignon opposite.

No signposts

(2) Leave the coastline on the left and head towards the car park, then continue along the small road leading to Kerouini. Continue along this road, passing a first crossroads and an old granite well on the right.

(3) At the Kerannouat sign, turn left, cross this hamlet and continue to rejoin the coastal path you took on the way there.

GR®34 Red and White markings

(4) Turn right and follow this north-west facing path for about 1 km until you reach the road that leads to Kerdallé.

No markings
turn right and head towards the hamlet of Kerdallé. The bread oven and fluted stele from the Iron Age are located a few metres from the three-way junction at the entrance to a farm, where you can also see an old well. There are no signs indicating their location.

(5) Return to the fork and turn right onto Route de Corn Pao. Follow it to the next intersection, where you turn right.

(6) At the next road, turn left towards the hamlet of Kerlaëren. At the entrance to the hamlet, turn left.

(7) Turn left again into the Chemin de Park ar Goaden cul-de-sac.
At the end of the cul-de-sac, a path through a pine forest leads to the coastal path, passing to the right of the Étang de Loc'h Louriec.

GR®34 Red and White markings

(8) Turn right and continue along the coastal path for about 1 km to return to the car park (S/E).

Notes

Toilets at the car park at the start.

Another longer route (24 km) is available on Visorando. Only a small part of it is the same, but it does not follow the same direction.

Avoid during the summer: some small roads lead to popular beaches.
Best time to visit: April to June for the dune flora.

NB: In some places, the sandy coastal path makes walking a little more difficult.

Worth a visit

Pendrec, Kerlaëron, Kerdallé and Kerouini beaches. The latter has an area marked by a sign where naturism is permitted.

Loc'h Lougar coastal lagoon: between Pointe de Trévignon and Pointe de la Jument, a six-kilometre-long dune cordon isolates seven lagoons. During periods of heavy rain, the largest, Loc'h Lourgar, can cover an area of 30 hectares.

The dunes are home to a wide variety of flora (protected natural area).

Kerdallé bread oven and Iron Age stele.

Several ancient stone wells.

View of the Glénans Archipelago.

In line with previous reviews, we encountered a difficulty at point 1 where the pond empties into the sea. A pleasant route to take at low tide.

A beautiful route along the coast and small country roads.
Unfortunately, at point 1, it was impossible to continue because the pond empties into the sea and an impassable stream blocks the way. We will return when the weather is better.

Thank you for this review
Storm Ciaran and heavy rainfall have affected many hiking trails
This pond area is likely to be particularly flooded, especially as the dune recedes with each storm.

A run along the beach, which is quite difficult on soft sand, but manageable. It is possible to avoid returning via the beach by going around Loc'h Lougar on the tarmac road. You don't get the sea view, but the countryside is also very nice. However, this adds almost a kilometre to the route (10.4 km in total).

Please note, following storms CIARAN and heavy rain:
two sections of the trail have collapsed. They are marked with red and white signs.
The return between points 7 and 8 is not passable as you approach point 8 (flooding). You must turn right at Loc'h Louriec and then left to rejoin the trail. (There is no more soft sand at this point, it is hard ground.)

Difficult going, lots of soft sand.
if we take a small parallel path lower down (which is hard), we lose sight of the ocean. A shame

Thank you for this review.
I completed this route and wrote its description in May. At that time, there were no problems with the water level, but there was still soft sand, as indicated.
Kind regards.

Taken today, with sunshine at the start and end, clouds in between but no rain, and a refreshing breeze!
There was indeed a lot of soft sand on the route, which is not recommended for people who have difficulty walking on this type of terrain. Fortunately, it was low tide, which allowed us to walk on hardened sand.

There was a difficulty at point 1. Due to the level of the pond, you have to go via the beach and then remember to go straight back up to find the path so you don't have to walk in soft sand.
On the way back to point 1, we missed the Kerdallé path (due to the water level?). Was the sign not visible? We resumed the route at the next car park.
A lovely walk with beautiful views of the islands.

Hiking in the rain, but it's a very beautiful route, even in the drizzle.
Lots of birds in the ponds. The flora of the dunes is also interesting.
It's true that walking in "soft" sand (even wet) isn't ideal, but it's nothing insurmountable.

It is difficult when arriving at the Trévignon ponds, on the sandy paths where you sink into the sand. It is preferable to walk on the beach on the wet sand, provided it is low tide, of course.

We did this hike at the end of summer, so the ponds were a little dry. As warned, the walk is a little difficult around Kerouini beach, but the circular hikes through the villages are pleasant and welcome. We regretted not bringing binoculars to watch the birds. A very enjoyable end-of-season hike.
