Park in the Eichwald car park.
(S/E) Cross the D204 departmental road with caution and take the path opposite, heading south, marked with a red ring and a red-white-red rectangle.
Pass a pumping station (on your left) and further on you will come to an intersection with a forest road.
(1) Turn left onto a path marked with a red ring.
Pass a drinking water production plant (on the left at the edge of the path) and reach a road.
(2) Continue straight ahead on this road.
(3) For the more curious, a small round-trip trail climbs to the right towards a memorial dedicated to François Lienhart, a woodcutter who died accidentally in 1933. Reach a fork with a trail starting on the right.
(4) Go up to the right, following the red ring and red-white-red rectangle markings.
(5) Turn left to climb up to the Mündel Tower plateau. You will pass this point again on the way down.
(6) Heidenkopf and Mündel Tower. You will find a table with several benches on the plateau.
The 88 steps up the tower are easy to climb (be careful to duck your head when you reach the top, as the opening to the platform is quite low). A beautiful view awaits you there.
To continue, head back in the opposite direction to the previous intersection.
(5) Turn left onto the path you left to climb the tower. After a few switchbacks downhill, you will arrive at a junction with the Ochsenlaeger Forest Road.
(7) After a few metres on the right on this Ochsenlaeger Forest Road, turn right onto the path marked with a red ring and yellow disc. Then descend via a track on the left and join a short section of the GR® 531 marked with a blue rectangle, which leads to the magnificent Verloreneck shelter on the right-hand side of the path.
(8) After burning down, the Verloreneck shelter was completely rebuilt in 2023. There is a large table with benches under a canopy, then a room with a table and benches that are completely sheltered, and more tables with benches nearby across a small stream.
To continue the tour, head north for a few metres along the GR® 531 forest path marked with a blue rectangle, then quickly leave this path and turn right, following the small Lauterbach stream on your left and the red ring markings for about 800 metres.
(9) Take the path on the right marked with a red ring and continue until you reach a forest path about 2 km away.
(10) Cross the path and take the slightly uphill path opposite, marked with a red ring. Continue along this path until the next junction, where you will find the initial fork.
(1) Immediately after the intersection, turn left onto the path you took on the way out and follow the red ring markings to the end. Carefully cross the D204 departmental road and return to the (S/E).
