Collet du Tat circular route starting from La Joue du Loup

Starting from La Joue du Loup, this short route is ideal for little ones. As a circular route, it offers panoramic views of the Obiou massif and the Pic de Bure. If you’re patient and quiet, you can watch the marmots playing on the grassy slopes below the small pass of the Tat.

Description of the walk

Park in the car park at the junction of the D17C and Avenue d’Aurouze.

(S/E) Join theGR® “Tour du Dévoluy” trail, marked in yellow and red. Follow it towards Super Dévoluy, due east.

(1) Continue straight on along theGR®; the path begins to climb.

(2) At the junction above the Bergerie du Forest, keep right on the GRP®. You will soon reach another junction, shaped like a Y.

(3) Ignore the path ahead that continues into the woods, and turn left onto theGRP®. Follow a wide left-hand circular loop to reach the Collet du Tat. Here you will find a picnic area with picnic tables and an orientation table.

(4) Leave theGRP® and take the track that climbs southwards. At thefirst fork, take the right-hand branch. Reach the highest point and then begin an easy descent. You’ll come to a new junction of paths at a hairpin bend.

(5) Here you have two options:
- either turn right and return to the original junction, then follow the route in reverse to get back to the Joue du Loup car park (S/E).
- or turn left, following the route shown on the attached map, to make a wide circular route to the right and also return to the Joue du Loup car park (S/E).

Easy route but sheep herds with dogs present; follow instructions to avoid inconvenience (go around the pens, etc.). Very beautiful landscapes

It's a beautiful walk, but there are several paths and it's not always easy to find the right one, but there are some very beautiful views.

This walk is absolutely stunning, offering magnificent views all along the route.
However, I recommend returning via the same route as soon as you reach Collet du Tat, as the marked route ends at the top of La Joue du Loup and therefore takes you right through the village on the tarmac road...

This lovely walk is a real treat, as the 360-degree views are breathtaking almost all the way round!
I would, however, recommend doing it as a round trip from the small pass (following the outward route after point 4), as the end of the route takes you to the top of La Joue du Loup, winding along the tarmac road...

A lovely morning. A two-hour hike.
At the signpost at the summit, take the small path on the right which leads you to the true summit with a 360° view. Superb

I don’t think we followed the suggested route exactly, as we were too busy picking delicious milk caps, but at one point we came across a wide track that we simply had to follow! In any case, it’s impossible to get lost, with the village down to the right and the mountain to the left.... A lovely little walk to get you started, or for those who don’t walk much.

Hello,
First of all, thank you very much for your feedback, which will help us improve the description.
Indeed, on re-reading the description, there is a possibility of confusion regarding the crossroads, so please accept my apologies... I have therefore added a waypoint to clarify the situation and slightly amended the explanations.
Enjoy your hikes in the mountains and the mushrooms... (make sure to cut them with a knife, and be careful with the varieties!)

Rated "Disappointing" solely because of this minor error 🤔.
However, you seem to be right because when you look at the route at that point, the path continues "straight ahead".
Let’s let the author tell us what they think.

Please note: at the sheepfold, do not turn right as mentioned in the instructions, but carry on STRAIGHT AHEAD along the GR towards Super Devoluy.
Note: plenty of edible mushrooms at this time of year = mid-September.
