Park in the small car park behind the church in Dancé.
(S/E) Go around the church, join the D203 and follow it to the left. At the next crossroads, pass a cross on your right and continue on the D112. Continue for 300 m.
(1) Take the tarmac road on the left towards Pêt d'Âne. Pass Anve and arrive in front of Château Gaillard.
(2) Continue straight ahead, leaving Château Gaillard on your left.
At the next crossroads, first turn left then right, cross Les Côtes and find the track on the right that leads to the viewpoint. Follow this track to reach Pêt de l’Âne, a magnificent viewpoint over the meander of the Loire.
(3) Continue to the right of the viewpoint on the path (PR® Le Pêt de l'Âne) which descends into the woods. At the Y-junction, take the right-hand branch. After about 150 m, you will see a path ascending to the right, which is not marked on the IGN map.
(4) Climb up the path, signposted Pêt de l’Âne 2.1 km. After 500 m, continue to the right, still climbing into the woods. The path ends at the road with a cross on the right-hand side.
(5) Go up to the right onto the Sentier des Châtaigniers.
(6) On the plateau, continue straight ahead, leaving the Sentier des Châtaigniers on your right. Beautiful view of the plain and mountains. A little further on, on the right, La Madone.
Return to the Château Gaillard crossroads.
(2) Turn left and retrace your steps to return to the village and the church car park (S/E).
