Hautes Rayes circular loop

(S/E) From the car park, take the path to the right of the school and proceed to the first junction.

(1) Turn left, go under the power lines and continue straight on along the dirt track until you reach a road.

(2) Turn left onto this road towards the railway bridge, cross it and turn immediately right, following the railway line. Follow a track alongside the railway line until you reach Rue Michelet. Turn right towards the level crossing.

(3) Cross the level crossing and continue left onto Rue des Groux. Continue along Rue Soufflot until you reach the junction with Avenue du Général Leclerc.

(4) First turn right then left to follow the avenue straight ahead until you reach Rue du Val. Head up to the left until you reach Rue Jean XXIII.

(5) Turn right, taking the hairpin bend in this street towards Saint-Martin Church. Walk round the back of the church and turn left onto Chemin des Côtes de la Frette until you reach Rue du Port on your left.

(6) Turn right onto Sente de La Frette. At the bottom of the path, turn right onto Rue de La Frette, continue along Quai du Génie and pass the Maison du Passeur.

(7) Continue along the Quai du Génie and the Quai de Gaillon. You’ll reach the Lions du Val at the point where vehicles are prohibited.

(8) Leave the Quai du Gaillon (playground on the left) by turning right, head up towards the Chemin des Hautes Eaux, then turn left onto the Chemin du Val de Gaillon until you reach the houses on the left.

(9) Continue straight ahead along the Sentier des Ânes until you reach Avenue de Belleville.

(10) Cross the road and keep to the right in single file ( very busy road; only the right-hand side is suitable for walking) before turning left towards a junction.

(11) Turn right off Avenue de Bellevue to reach a junction.

(12) Keep to the right and return to the original crossroads from the outward journey.

(1) Turn left towards the car park (S/E).

(10) A very busy road; keep to the right-hand side for approximately 300 m; only the right-hand side is developed and marked.

Saint-Martin Church

The Maison du Passeur, situated on the banks of the Seine in Herblay, reopened last Saturday. The building once housed the ferryman responsible for transporting residents to the opposite bank, before becoming a restaurant.

The Villa Mauresque stands out for its exotic character, inspired by the Arab-Andalusian style. Designed by Victor Madeleine, an industrial designer, photographer and painter born in 1854, it forms part of a collection of unique buildings in the Île-de-France region which, from the late 19th century to the first half of the 20th century, reflect a fascination with ‘elsewhere’ (the Orient, the Middle East).
