Circular Combes loop starting from Saint-Symphorien

(S/E) Below the former priory of Saint-Symphorien, with your back to the meadow and the information board, turn right onto the S1 marked trail. Continue for about 100 metres, then follow the GRP® on the left for about 200 metres. At the fork in the left-hand bend, leave the ^GRP® and take the path on the right, which will quickly lead you to another fork in the path.

(1) Ignore the path on the right, which will be the return route, and turn left; continue along the path that climbs through the woods to the crossroads.

(2) Turn right and continue straight ahead, keeping to the north-east. You will reach a crossroads at a dry stone ruin on the left-hand side.

(3) Turn right. Turn left at the next crossroads, then right about 300 metres further on to reach a crossroads marked by a cairn in the middle.

(4) Follow the path on the left to the hamlet of Racanière, where there is a^17th-century Quercy-style dovecote.

(5) At the road, take the path on the right and then join another road, which you should follow to the right.

(6) Leave the road via the path on your right and follow the sign for the return route.

(1) Continue straight ahead to reach the path marked with ^GRP® signs ^. Follow this path to the left, then turn right to reach the meadow and the information sign (S/E).

It is necessary to stock up on food in Puylaroque or Caylus as this circular route runs along quiet little paths with no villages nearby.
In good weather, the meadow at the start (owned by the municipality of Puylaroque) is the perfect place for a picnic break. You will also find an information panel about the La Symphorine association. For the comfort and respect of all, please leave this place as clean as you found it.
During the hunting season, from late August to late February, please stay on the marked paths, which are all rural paths open to the public and listed on the Tarn-et-Garonne PDIPR (on either side of the path, the land is private property).

Saint-Symphorien, a place to be found at the bottom of a valley: La Siétges.
- 15th-century church listed in the inventory in 1948, but with older origins.
- Miraculous spring and its legends.
- Peaceful cemetery, facing the sky and the sun.
- Paths lined with dry stone walls.
- The fauna is varied. From spring to autumn in particular, you can see rabbits, hares, red squirrels and roe deer in the morning, numerous butterflies during the day, some of which are protected, reptiles such as the ocellated lizard, amphibians such as the green tree frog, the agile frog or the salamander, and in the evening, at dusk, bats, owls and barn owls. With a little luck, you may even spot the friendly black and white badger.
- As for the flora, at the end of winter, snake's head fritillaries (or water tulips) appear on the edges of paths near the stream and in wet meadows. Then, from spring to summer, 30 varieties of orchids bloom one after the other, along with many other plants. The festival of colours ends in late autumn with the blooming of purple colchicum in the wet meadows.
Boxwood, curiosities of nature, picturesque, vaguely disturbing in the autumn mist, providing a protective canopy in the heatwave, conducive to the wildest imagination.
