Sarcy circular route via Bligny and Poilly

Departure from Rue Saint-Just (car park at the church in Sarcy).

(S) Head towards Rue des Etang (D224) and at the crossroads, turn left and walk down Rue des Forges for 40 metres. Turn right onto Rue Louis Bellot and continue along the path.

(1) At the crossroads, join the Ardre^GRP® (red and yellow markings) and continue straight ahead (east) along a road. At the next crossroads, turn right. At the next fork, go left, still following the^GRP®. Ignore a turn-off on the left, stay south-east then south and reach a crossroads near the Italian cemetery.

(2) Turn left at an acute angle, still following the Ardre^GRP®. Cross the D386 and continue towards Bligny. After crossing the Ardre, at a fork, follow Rue de la Barbe aux Cannes to the right. Ignore a lane on the left and pass in front of the town hall.

(3) At the crossroads, turn left onto Rue de la Besace (leaving the^GRP® trail on your right). Walk past an old wash house. After crossing the lane you saw earlier on your left, at the edge of the village, turn right onto the street that continues as a farm track, heading generally north, until you reach the RD306.

(4) Cross the D606/D306 junction and continue straight ahead on the D306 towards Aubilly. After 150 metres, turn left onto a farm track. Head north-west for about 600 metres, then turn right towards the calvary. At the calvary, continue to the right on the farm track that leads to the village of Aubilly.

(5) When you reach the D306, turn left and follow Rue de la Barbe aux Cannes. At the crossroads, at the foot of Aubilly church, turn left and continue along this road until you reach the village exit.

(6) The road continues, turning left and giving way to a farm track. Walk past a farm on your left. Cross a small private wood and continue westwards across open ground. Ignore two turnings on the right and walk alongside a small wood. Climb up to the crossroads at an elevation of 129 metres.

(7) Turn left and follow the^GR®142(red and white markings) to the south-west, ignoring the turnings on either side.

(8) Just before the Ardre river, turn right and cross a small wood.

(9) Turn sharply left towards Poilly (let the^GR® continue straight ahead). Follow Rue du Pont de Pierre (old wash house on the left before the church), continue along Rue de la Place and walk past the church on your right. When you reach Grande Rue, follow it to the left for 40 metres.

(10) Then turn right onto Rue du Trot to leave the village. The street continues as a farm track, running alongside a pond on the left. At the end of the track, turn left. The track then turns sharply to the right (steep climb alongside the vineyards). At the T-junction, turn left then right.

(11) Turn left and follow the^GRP® (red and yellow markings) again. At the next fork, after about 150 metres, turn left to descend towards the village of Sarcy. Arrive in the village via Impasse des Lilas, continue slightly to the left along Rue de Lorette and you will find the church and car park (S/E).

(2) Alternatively, continue straight ahead for 200 m to visit the Italian cemetery (First World War) overlooking the RD980, then retrace your steps.

(4) Alternatively, continue straight ahead for 500 metres on the RD306 to visit the German cemetery (First World War), then retrace your steps.
