The easiest option is to leave your vehicle near the church on the square in Montmin.
(S/E) Right from the start, the tone is set by a fairly steep climb on a tarmac road heading east (La Tournette).
(1) Just after a water tank, ignore the first path on the right.
Then, after 150 metres, take the first path on the right. Continue straight ahead for just over a kilometre, climbing steadily until you reach the next fork.
(2) Take the right fork and continue climbing northwards.
(3) Turn right when you reach the crossroads with the stream.
(4) Here, you will need to cross a stream (snowfield depending on the season), which is best bypassed from below.
Then take a path on the right heading south-east, which may be slippery in wet weather (dirt).
Now simply follow this path without risk of going wrong to reach a ridge.
(5) Walk along the ridge and turn slightly to the left.
(6) In the distance, you will see the passage to the right of the La Bajulaz peak, which will first take you to a pass. La Tournette is now only a stone's throw away.
From there, the path is mostly flat, with only the final section climbing slightly.
Go around Le Fauteuil (the name of the huge rock at the summit of La Tournette) on the left and finish the ascent using metal ladders and chains.
(7) The scenery is exceptionally beautiful in good weather. Return via the same route in reverse to get back to the car park (S/E).
