The starting point is on the Route des Fermes d’Athose, at the junction with the Chemin de la Station d’Épuration.
(S/E) Set off along the tarmac road leading uphill ahead of you. Pass the mobile phone mast and reach a junction at the edge of the forest.
(1) Leave the main road and turn right onto a track that soon becomes a forest path. Continue, climbing gently, until you rejoin the road you took earlier further up.
(2) Turn right. Carry on along this road, skirting the meadows, until you reach a clearing at a place called La Baraque. “The one shown on the map no longer exists.” Head towards the path that branches off to the right.
(3) Head down towards this farm track which runs alongside the pastures until you reach a dirt track at its end. At the junction with this track, turn left and cross the Combe à l’Âne. You’ll reach a crossroads at elevation 794.
(4) At the junction with the Route de La Pistolette, turn right and continue along this road. At the next junction, ignore the road on the left and carry on straight ahead, passing under the power line. Further on, head towards the village, ignoring the two roads branching off to your right. You’ll reach a Fork in the road at the entrance to the village.
(5) Turn right and follow the Route des Cerisiers. Follow it all the way until you reach the junction with the Chemin du Belvédère.
(6) Turn right and head uphill, passing the cemetery, then continue the climb by taking the steps. Carry on uphill, passing the wayside shrine, until you reach the highest point of your route.
(7) At the top, take in the panoramic view and resume your route by taking the path down between the cliff and the fence. Enter the woods at the corner of the pasture and continue your descent. Turn left as you cross the small path (elevation 741) and continue due south to join the D244 road.
(8) Take this road on your right. Pass the hairpin bend and carry on until you reach a junction with a dirt track (elevation 668).
(9) Turn right onto this track to reach a dirt track (elevation 611) shortly afterwards.
(10) Turn right onto this track, leaving the signposted paths behind. Further on, the track narrows to a path and enters the forest. Ignore the side paths and tracks to reach a Fork in the road (elevation 642).
(11) Take the left-hand path, which descends gently, and you’ll eventually reach a stony track.
(12) Turn left and stay on this track; cross the bridge over the Ruisseau d’Athose and join the RD32.
(13) Follow this road __carefully__ until you reach the entrance to the village. You’ll arrive at the fountain.
(14) Leave the departmental road and turn right onto the Route des Fermes d’Athose. Continue to the junction with Rue de la Craye.
(15) Turn right, cross the stream and carry on. Ignore the small side paths leading to neighbouring plots and head back to your car park (S/E).
