Park at the car park by the church in Mouthier-Haute-Pierre.
(S/E) Walk round the church and turn right (east) onto the Chemin des Vignes. Cross Rue du Petit Mont then pass under a power line.
(1) Turn right onto the path heading eastwards.
(2) Follow the path to the right (south), which further on passes above the stream that feeds the Syratus waterfall.
(3) Turn right to descend into the valley.
Warning: the left bank is off-limits to walkers following accidents
(4) Cross the road (D67) with care and continue straight ahead towards the Grotte des Faux Monnayeurs, passing at the foot of a natural climbing site.
(5) Grotte des Faux Monnayeurs: bring a head torch if you wish to venture a little way into the cave. Continue to the Source du Pontet and carry on down the slope. Cross the Loue to reach the left bank.
(6) Turn left to follow theGR®145-GRP® between Loue and Lison in the Courbet region. You will reach the Grotte de Nouailles.
(7) Follow theGR® to the Source de la Loue.
(8) Cross the Loue via the footbridge and head down the path on the right bank. Further on, this path moves away from the river and climbs through the forest until it joins the road (D67).
(9) Turn right and head back up to the next bend, then take the path on the right at the car park. You will reach a junction.
(10) Head right, southwards, without joining the road. The yellow-markedPR® path continues on level ground until it reaches the hamlet of Pré Rouge.
(11) Turn right to follow thePR®. About 500 m further on, before leaving the woods, turn right again, following the markings. At the next junction, turn right to reach the Source de la Loue car park.
(12) Cross the car park then follow the path to the right (GRP® marked in yellow and red) which turns right then left before reaching a junction at the hamlet of Derrière le Lord.
(13) Continue right along theGRP®. The path continues along the western slope of the Gorges de Nouailles and reaches the Renédale viewpoint.
(14) Continue along the path above the cliffs until you reach a track at an altitude of 744 metres near the hamlet of Grange Carrée.
(15) Leave the track and theGRP® to follow the path on the right which descends northwards towards Mouthier. Reach a junction at an altitude of 510 metres.
(16) At the crossroads at La Ressille, take the path leading off to the right to reach Mouthier-Haute-Pierre.
(17) Cross the Loue and turn left to walk back up through the village to the church car park (S/E).
