Country loop between Esnes and Lesdain

Park in the car park behind the church in Esnes Chemin de Long Sart.

(S/E) At the intersection, turn left onto Rue du Moulin. At the Rue de l'Église crossroads, cross over and take Rue du Château. Ignore the lane on the left and continue along the path. Pass under the power line.

(1) At the intersection with Rue d'Outre l'Eau, turn right, ignoring the paths on the left and right.

(2) At the Chemin Taquet crossroads, turn left. Ignore the path on the left, which is no entry. At the three-way junction at Château de Briseux, continue on the right-hand lane and ignore the paths on the right and left.

(3) At the bend in the Hurtebise farm, continue along the path to the right and ignore the path opposite. At the next bend, continue to the left and ignore the path on the right, then follow Chemin de Mézières and pass in front of the Malassise farm.

(4) At the junction with the D76, turn left. Just after the Mézières farm, cross with caution and take the path opposite.

(5) At the intersection with the D96, turn right, ignore the path on the right, and continue on your way, passing the Bonne Enfance farm.

(6) At the Vieille Chaussée crossroads, turn right towards Crèvecoeur-sur-Escaut and Bel Aise. Ignore the paths on the right and left.

(7) At the crossroads with the Bel Aise farm, continue straight ahead and ignore the paths on the right and left.

(8) At the intersection, turn right onto the paved road called Fontaine Glorieuse, then turn left and continue along Rue de la Fontaine Glorieuse. At the intersection with Rue de la Dessous, turn right and ignore the street on the left.

(9) At the intersection with Rue Vaucelles, turn left, then turn left onto Rue des Baudeliers.

(10) At the crossroads with Rue de l'Église, continue straight ahead along Petite Rue, ignore the street on your left and take Rue des Berceaux. At the end of this street, turn left, continue along the pedestrian lane, pass the footbridge and cross Rue de Crèvecoeur.

(11) Turn left onto this street and turn right at the Vieux Chemin d'Esnes crossroads.

(12) At the three-way junction at Calvaire, continue along the path to the right. Pass under the power line. At the intersection, turn right, ignore the path opposite and cross the bridge over the Torrent d'Esnes.

(13) At the Grand Pont crossroads, turn left onto Rue de Lesdain, ignoring the street and path on the right. At the chapel (in the recess), take the path on the left and turn right at the intersection.

(14) At the junction with the D960, cross with caution and take the path opposite. At the junction with Hameau de Long Sart, turn right, after the cemetery ignore the two paths on the left and you will arrive at the car park of the church. (S/E)

The route is easy but not signposted. The ground is covered with asphalt, earth, stones and cobblestones. Wear suitable footwear.
