Description of the walk

(S/E) From the car park, near the Maison du Pays Welche, head left up the Grand'Rue to the town hall.

(1) At the town hall, turn left onto Rue de l'Église, continuing to the cemetery and Rue de la Rochette, following the Red Ring route.

(2) Go round the cemetery and leave the village by heading up to the right along Chemin de Choé, which you follow to Ferme Choé.

(3) Once at Ferme Choé, continue straight ahead into the woods, either on the Red Ring or on the path below which heads in the same direction. At the next crossroads, head down to the right and reach the valley at the northern end of Fréland, keeping to the left.

(4) Cross the Grand'Rue, turn right and, immediately, left onto Rue des Frênes. Follow it to the junction with the Route d'Aubure (D11.3). At the D11.3, continue along the road to the right, until the hairpin bend.

(5) Then climb the steep path that branches off to the left into the woods and joins the Thalweg stream 200 metres further on. At the stream, head for the road and follow it to the left.

(6) At the junction with the next track (towards the 618 m mark), take the road that climbs to the right, into the forest.

(7) Leave this for a path that descends to the right and leads out into meadows, to an old farm (Tibremont). Continue down the slope and cross the D11.3; on the other side, the path continues towards the Chapelle Saint-Thiébaut and Fréland.

(8) At the chapel, head towards the first houses of Fréland and Rue de la Chaude-Cote, then continue to the right until you reach Grand’Rue, still following the Red Ring. Walk down the Grande Rue. Take the path that crosses the village to the left of the Grand'Rue and joins Rue de la Rouelle. Continue along this street, then turn left onto Rue des Violettes, until you reach the school.

(9) Take the path behind the school, which leads out onto Rue de la Goutelle, and follow it to the left until you reach Grand'Rue, in front of the Maison du Pays Welche (S/E).
