Car park at Col de Fréland, on the left of the road, coming from Aubure.
(S/E) From the car park, cross the road carefully and take the small asphalt road (signposted Haute Halle, Haut Voirimond, Voirimond). After 50 metres, ignore a path coming from the right and continue on the road markedGR®5(red rectangle) towards Pierre des Trois Bans/Brézouard. Pass to the right of a viewpoint at a place called La Plane (orientation table and panoramic view of the villages of Fréland, Lapoutroie, etc.). At the fork, continue to the left and leave Chemin Stocky on your right. After 100 metres, you will reach an intersection with a forest path (military road).
(1) Turn right onto this military road, which follows theGR®5, marked with red rectangles and signposted towards Pierre des Trois Bans. About 700 m further on, you will come to a wide road. Continue straight ahead, following the red rectangle markings. You will come to a fork with an uphill road on the right, marked with red rectangles.
(2) Leave the wide path straight ahead and turn right onto the path marked with a red rectangle (Pierre des Trois Bans sign) and continue to a multiple crossroads.
(3) Turn left and after about 50 metres, you will arrive at the Refuge de la Pierre des Trois Bans.
(4) Note that behind the refuge, a small path leads 200 metres to a beautiful viewpoint over the Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines valley.
From the refuge, turn back 50 metres towards a no-entry sign.
(3) At the intersection, turn left, following the red-white-red rectangle markings towards Aubure. After a wide curve on a downhill section, you will come to a wide path
(5) Keep to the far right (red-white-red rectangle) on a slight downhill slope, ignoring the path opposite. Stay on the wide marked path until you reach a fork.
(6) Leave the path marked with red-white-red rectangles on your left and continue along the wide carriageway. 200 m after a 180° bend, you will come to a wide path. Leave the path furthest to the right and descend, guided by the red ring on the wide path. 100 m further down, you will cross the path marked with a red-white-red rectangle.
(7) Pay attention. Turn right onto the red-white-red rectangle trail, leaving the main road. After a steep descent of about 100 metres, you will reach a level trail. Turn right onto it. Pass above a house and, at the end of the fence, turn left (Blue Ring) and 5 metres further down, you will come to the access road to the property.
(8) Enter the pasture and pass in front of the statue of the Virgin Mary. Then enter the forest (red-white-red rectangle and blue ring). You will come to a wide path coming from the right. Take this path downhill (red-white-red rectangle) and you will arrive at the first house near a drinking trough.
(9) Turn right (Red-White-Red Rectangle and Green Ring). In front of a house, find a path leading into a pasture. Cross it and take a path on the right. 20 m further on, turn left to cross a meadow and then join the small asphalt road and the car park on the left (S/E).
