Circular route to the north-east of Mas de Montet to Belmont-sur-Rance

An unpretentious walk with little elevation gain. It offers a glimpse of a scattered rural landscape made up of isolated farmsteads amidst cultivated fields. Some buildings are in a state of disrepair, whilst others are still inhabited by farmers.

Description of the walk

Leaving Camarès, head towards Saint-Affrique. Opposite Mas de Jean on the right, turn left onto the road signposted “Les Galamans”. Continue until you reach the road on the right signposted “Mas de Montet”. Follow this road until you reach the first farm buildings on the left-hand side of the road. Park on a grassy area so as not to obstruct the passage of farm machinery.

(S/E) With your back to the first building, take the unpaved farm track opposite heading north.

(1) The track continues to the right towards the high-voltage power line.

(2) At the high-voltage power line, turn left, following it, and you will reach a stony track.

(3) Head left towards the hamlet of Les Pradailles. Walk through the hamlet, ignoring the road branching off to the right, until you reach a crossroads.

(4) Turn left and follow the tarmac road towards the Gabaudo farm.

(5) At the farm, turn left onto the road to reach the car park at Mas de Montet (S/E).
