Circular route above Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux

This short route allows you to appreciate a different side of this area through the orchards as you gently climb above the Eyrieux valley. It continues through distinctly Mediterranean vegetation before winding its way down through a majestic forest where deciduous trees, thorny bushes and boxwood grow side by side.

Description of the walk

Park in the town hall car park or along the D120 road after the bridge, Rue du Bas Pranles in Ollières-sur-Eyrieux.

(S/E) Take the Montée de la Combe behind the town hall. After about a hundred metres, in the bend on the right, leave the road and take the path that climbs straight up.
Cross the D2 road, follow it to the left for a few metres, then take thefirst small path on the right. Wind your way uphill until you reach a new tarmac road. Follow it, then cross it to reach it again directly below a power line via a shortcut.

(1) Continue left on this road to the small village of La Chièse.

(2) Turn right at thefirst intersection. Stay on the left-hand road at the next crossroads to reach the entrance to the hamlet of Souillet. At the exit, continue uphill on the left-hand road to reach a farm.

(3) Leave the road and take a path on the right. After a few metres, leave this path and take the trail on the left that runs alongside the farm buildings.
Follow this path to the compass rose: the Fontaine de la Pize.

(4) Take the road opposite and continue along it. Cross the hamlet of Monteillas, pass under the power line again and then reach the village of Alisse.

(5) Take thefirst road on the left to reach Château de Bavas.

(6) Continue left and cross Les Molières. At the La Molière compass rose, follow signs for Les Ollières. After the Lacol compass rose, join the D2.

(7) Cross it and take the path opposite that goes uphill. Join the D265.

(8) Follow it to the left, then turn left to enter a wood and reach the Croix des Bans crossroads.

(9) Take the path on the left and descend towards Les Ollières-sur-Eyrieux, following the yellow and white markings. After this long descent, you will come out onto a tarmac road at the La Théoule compass rose.

(10) Cross it to descend along the Eyrieux, with the tennis court on your left, and continue along Rue de l'Eyrieux to the village, passing under the bridge. Go back up to reach the town hall car park (S/E).

The descent to Eyrieux, in the last part of the circular route, is along a beautiful path through the forest. However, this path is stony and wet, so caution is required, especially in wet weather.

A beautiful hike with a steep climb at the start. We saw a fresco engraved on the rocks. It's a shame there's no explanation. I asked the town hall and am waiting for a reply. From point 9, we continued on to Saint Vincent de Durfort, then descended to Les Plantas and arrived at point 10, covering 13 km and 450 metres of elevation gain.
Thanks to the author
Explanation of the fresco:
This is a sculpture created by someone from the area (the famous CL) whom I know.
It refers to Le Soulier, the name given to the hamlet of "Le Souillet" which appears on the Visorando map.
Le Soulier is also the name that appears on the land registry for this area.
Thanks to Mr Lemaitre for this explanation.

Nice walk. The descent at the end of the route is a bit tough, especially if you have knee problems.

A fairly short hike but with a nice little elevation gain.
The route is easy to follow.
A varied route with forest and more technical sections on scree.
And what beautiful scenery!
We had a picnic on the bench facing the panorama in Conjols. It was magnificent!
Thanks to the author of this hike.

A very pleasant hike. We were mostly sheltered from the north wind. Beautiful views, but a bit of tarmac nonetheless, especially as we had extended the route a little. From point 9, we continued on to Saint Vincent de Durfort, then descended to Les Plantas and arrived at point 10, covering 13 km and 450 metres of elevation gain.
Thank you to the author for this beautiful hike, which allowed us to discover the other side of Les Ollières sur Eyrieux.
