Description of the walk

Park at the Boucillon chalets, please note: there is no public car park.

(S/E) Take Route de Boucillon uphill and reach the houses at Sablouse. Continue uphill until you reach a junction with a water tank.

(1) Take the path behind this reservoir, continue uphill and reach a road and theGR®®427.

(2) Here you have two options:
- take theGR®® marked in white and red to the left, but there is a scree slope to climb. It is a very beautiful path, but more difficult. Follow the forest path to a car park before the hamlet of Les Buffes,
- take the road to the right; this is the route shown on the map. Pass the hamlet of Les Vauds. Then find a forest track and take it to the left to reach a ridge.

(3) Turn left, then follow a hairpin bend to the right to reach the highest point of the walk at the junction of several paths.

(4) Continue straight ahead along the path, begin the descent by skirting the Serre de Peyremoutier and then rejoin the discovery trail. Follow it to the left to reach the car park before the hamlet of Les Buffes.

(5) Continue downhill to the hamlet of Les Buffes.

(6) Take the path known as the Chemin de la Mine to the left, which starts below the road. Cross a cow pasture and descend along a pretty little valley. Reach the Ravin de Ribemale. Make a detour here to reach the waterfall.

(7) Head south along the stream and arrive at a hairpin bend on a tarmac road.

(8) Head down the road to the left and, at the bottom of this descent, reach the hamlet of Issantouans.

(9) Turn left to take the Dolce Via or greenway. Follow the right bank of the Eyrieux and reach the hamlet of La Ville, at a junction with a path to the left (restaurant).

(10) Leave the greenway here and turn left, cross the hamlet of Les Salins and continue along the Route des Salins to the junction with the D2.

(11) Take the D2 straight ahead, then turn left off it to take the Chemin de Garaud. A little further on, join the Route de Boucillon.

(12) Turn left onto this road and follow it to the car park at the Boucillon chalets (S/E).

We returned to this hike, which is magnificent for its landscapes and trails. This time we found the right paths. On the descent between 4 and 5, there is a misleading path that leads to a house; you have to stay on the upper path with the house on your left.
We encountered some llamas roaming free. They have a strange look in their eyes, but they let us pass...
The "cow pasture" after Les Buffes is completely ploughed at the beginning of autumn.
The waterfall is completely dry.

We parked in the car park at the old Ollières station. We walked to the start of the hike.
A very beautiful hike with a scree slope to climb for a few metres. No particular difficulty apart from that point.
A beautiful waterfall before reaching the Dolce Via.
We finished the hike via the Dolce Via as it leads straight to the station!
Lots of shaded sections, which is lovely when it’s hot.

A very interesting route that bypasses the village of Les Ollières, follows some lovely paths and offers magnificent views.
Please note that it is indeed not easy to find somewhere to park at the starting point at Le Boucillon.
Also, between points 3 and 4, the path marked on your guidebook does not appear on the IGN maps. It is, however, very well marked, very scenic, and climbs steeply… but perhaps we took a wrong turn? In any case, it does indeed join the ‘discovery trail’.
Thanks to the author!

A lovely walk with beautiful views, and the waterfall is very pretty. The first 3 km uphill are quite steep, but the paths through the woods are very pleasant. We saw hardly anyone apart from at the Dolce Via, where there are lots of walkers and cyclists. However, we must have missed a turn-off on the Dolce Via (the directions could do with being clearer), which made the walk a bit longer: as a result, we covered 13.5 km in 4 hours.
