Description of the walk

Park at the entrance to the marina, near the car park and next to the children's merry-go-round.

(S/E) Facing the harbour, take the promenade (Quai de la République) on the right, which runs along the seafront, the dry dock and the dry harbour, until you reach the start of a path on the left where a sign indicates the direction of Les Godelins (2.5 km) and Binic (6.5 km).

(1) Take this path, which continues along a very small road lined with opulent villas and the Port es Leu departmental park, from where you can admire the sea. Continuing along the Chemin de la Corniche, you will reach Moulin Beach. From here, the small road turns into a footpath.

(2) Continue along this path for about 1.5 km. This section is unspoilt and offers beautiful views of the sea and coves. Finally, you will reach a small road (Chemin des Bancs Roux) which climbs alongside a property and its magnificent large garden. Follow this road to the D786.

(3) Cross the main road. Please note that, as indicated at this point, this crossing is dangerous as cars drive very fast here. Take the small Rue du Vau Burel opposite. At the Y-junction, continue straight ahead onto Rue du Point du Jour. At the T-junction, continue straight ahead until you reach Rue de Limoron.

(4) Turn left, then right onto Rue du Bignot. At the new T-junction, turn left onto Rue Pasteur, then immediately right to arrive at the main square of the hamlet of Bignot, in front of a mini-market and a magnificent church.

(5) Head towards the church entrance and take the street opposite, which runs alongside the church. Then turn into thefirst street on the right, Rue du Prieur Robert. Pass two streets on the left before reaching a Y-junction. Turn left onto Rue de Bellevue, then immediately left onto Chemin des Belliots, which runs alongside a stone wall. This path leaves the wall before its end and continues to the right. A mountain bike trail continues along the same route. After a stretch of countryside, it reaches a few houses. Continue left on the path that descends towards a wooded area, continuing to follow the mountain bike trail. At the bottom, in the woods, join a larger path.

(6) Turn right onto this path, which leads to the Viaduc des Pourrhis. You can cross this viaduct to admire the canopy, but this hike continues along the path that descends to the right just before it. This allows you to appreciate the construction. Continue along the stream towards the north-east. When you leave the woods, ignore the street that goes up to the right to cross over the stream, then take the street on the right uphill to join the D786 at a traffic light.

(7) Cross over and take Rue Roger Vercel, opposite and slightly to the left, for about 600 metres.

(8) Take thesecond street on the right, Rue du Port es Leu. Follow this street down to the seafront, near the dry port.

(1) Turn left to reach the marina car park (S/E).

Notes

Saint-Quay-Portrieux is a seaside resort and marina. As such, there are many places to eat. However, there are none along the walk, apart from the mini-market in Etables-sur-Mer (Le Bignot), opposite the church.

Worth a visit

(2) Don't miss the old stone cross on the right after the climb, which offers a beautiful view of the port of Saint-Quay.
(5) The small hamlet of Le Bignot, which you will pass through, is worth a detour, with its old houses decorated with flowers.
The Church of Saint John the Baptist in the same hamlet is unusual in that it is the result of various alterations and extensions. The first building dates from the 16th century. It was enlarged in the 17th and 18th centuries. The statue of Our Lady at the top of the bell tower was consecrated on 29 September 1931. Not to be missed.
Between (6) and (7) From 1905 to 1956, the Pourrhis viaduct was part of the route taken by a small train that carried bathers to their holiday destination. This line ran along the northern coast of Brittany. The viaduct is the work of Louis Harel de la Noë, chief engineer of bridges and roads.

nice little hike. If it's hot and dry, it's ideal in the wooded area.
there's a viaduct to explore (above and below) and a small (parish specific to Brittany) river which is quite nice

A lovely, easy circular route between St Quay and Binic. The coastal path offers beautiful views of St Brieuc Bay. The second section, further inland, allows you to visit the beautiful church of Etables and walk along paths through the green countryside. The end of the route on the way back to St Quay is a little disappointing, as you have to walk along and then cross a busy road and walk on pavements in a neighbourhood of little interest.

A superb little hike! The route is very varied (coastline, countryside, village, forest), and even passes by a very nice café-bookshop in Étable, right next to the church, where you can grab a bite to eat and hang out among the books... Well done and thank you for this route!

Easy.
First time using GPX tracking. Very effective.
