If you are on holiday by the sea, take the D6009, then the D66 towards Roquefort-des-Corbières. Pass under the motorway, drive straight through the village (Avenue des Plages), then turn left at the end (Rue des Trois Moulins), then turn right (Camin Del Bosc) at a left-hand bend that goes uphill. Go straight ahead, ignore the road on the left that goes uphill, then turn right onto the road that appears to go downhill (Chemin de la Trillole). Ignore two small roads on the right and park in the car park with the hiking sign (start of the Cathar Trail).
(S/E) Continue on the arrival road, then turn right 150 metres after the crossroads.
(1) Take the small road on the right (markedGR® Sentier Cathare). Follow it for 1200m until the tarmac ends. Leave the path on the right that invites you to visit a cave (or go there, but make sure you come back).
At the next fork, go straight on along the wide path that climbs uphill, ignoring the path on the left, which is a detour and adds nothing to the walk.
(2) Continue along theGR® markings. The wide path climbs, makes a large loop, and ascends to the junction with theGR® Sentier Cathare, which you leave on your right and can see climbing the hill on your right.
(3) Take the yellow markings on the left. Follow this path for 200 metres, then at the junction, on the right, continue for about 120 metres, then take the path on the left (yellow) towards the "Bornes Millaires".
Continue following the markings, climbing (steep but short) towards the main path left behind. Take it to the right.
(4) Follow the main path. At the next intersection (approximately 350 metres), turn right heading south onto the plateau. Follow this path which climbs towards a clearly visible small pass. At the small pass (viewpoint), turn sharply right. Follow the path on the southern side of the ridge. Below the summit, it veers to the left and you can see that it descends on the other side.
(5) Continue along this path. After 250m, ignore the path that branches off to the right and climbs towards the ridges. Just before this fork, a track on the left takes you to geodetic point 393 (be careful of the cliff, as the edges can be slippery and there may be loose gravel). Stay on the main path, which will turn sharply to the left. From the south side, it will cross over to the north side. Walk along two small peaks on your right. Just before the crossroads, ignore a path on the left.
(6) At the crossroads (caution: karstic cave in the bushes), follow the yellow/red markings straight ahead, which you will not leave. The path will make a large loop (villa opposite with solar panels). Ignore a path on the right. A little further on, pass in front of a house under renovation (marked as ruins on the map). When you reach a flat area, take the path on the left, which winds upwards and is less steep.
(7) Leave the path that branches off to the left behind you (it leads to the solar-powered house). 300 metres further on, turn left and you will find two almost parallel paths. They are equivalent, but take the one on the left, which leads more reliably to the signpost for the return path. At the crossroads, continue north, then keep left on the path that seems less travelled. You will see a signpost about a hundred metres further on; head towards it.
(8) At the sign, leave the main path and take the path on the left, marked in yellow and red. It descends towards a vineyard below, follow it to reach the tarmac road.
(1) Turn right, continue and return to the car park (S/E).
