The banks of the Seine, manor houses and castles between Hautot and Saint-Pierre

Parking and start point: Place Poullard, church and cemetery of Hautot-sur-Seine.

(S/E) With your back to the church, turn left and ignore the sharp left-hand bend to continue straight ahead along Rue du Rouage.

(1) Turn into the first right-hand turn as you go uphill, Sente du Mont-Miré. At the top of the path, turn right onto Rue du Mont-Miré and walk for about 1.6 km to reach the cemetery and the Sainte-Vaubourg Chapel above Val-de-la-Haye.

(2) Head left and continue for about 2.2 km until you reach the first T-junction.

(3) Cross the road and take the first left, slightly diagonally, onto Route Forestière à la Biche, and continue for about 1.2 km.

(4) Turn right onto Route Forestière de la Commanderie. Continue straight on for about 800 m until you reach a junction (marker 73). Turn left onto the path running alongside the road and continue for about 550 m until you reach the first turn-off on the right.

(5) Turn right, passing the small mound of earth and taking the path opposite. Cross a small road and continue along the path opposite. At the first crossroads, in the middle of the fields, turn left.

(6) At the junction directly beneath the high-voltage power lines, continue straight ahead (west) and head downhill. Pass the cemetery and go straight on until you reach a roundabout at the foot of the church of Saint-Pierre-de-Manneville.

(7) Cross the Route de Sahurs, continue straight ahead with the church on your right, until you reach a T-junction. Turn left onto Chemin du Roy, until you reach the T-junction opposite the Salle Henri Joly. Then turn right onto the Route de Sahurs for approximately 340 m.

(8) Turn right onto Rue de Bas. At the T-junction, turn right, staying on Rue de Bas.

(9) Take the first right onto Chemin du Marais. Continue straight ahead along this road. Further on, at a fork, keep left and you will reach the banks of the Seine.

(10) Turn left and walk along the river on your right. Follow the towpath for about 4 km, until you reach the Sahurs ferry.

(11) Continue straight ahead, following the towpath for a further 4 km or so. Note the manor houses and castles on the left.

(12) You will come out onto the D51; follow it to the left. Pass the church and return to the starting car park (S/E).
