Thuilay Wood from Les Pâtis to Mittainville

Start from the Mittainville town hall car park, located at Le Pâtis.

(S/E) With your back to the town hall, take the Rue de la Mairie on the left to join the D71 on the right towards Vacheresse.
Go through the hamlet and take the road on the right towards Faverolles (D113).

(1) Turn left onto the first track going uphill. At a T-junction, fork left and you will come to the edge of a small wood.

(2) Follow the wood, leaving the left-hand path, which will be the return path, and follow the path that branches off to the left and right, between fields, to reach the Bois de Thuilay.

(3) Take the path on the right that follows the edge of the wood for a few dozen metres, until you reach the first path that climbs into the wood on the left. Continue along this path through the wood until you reach the first path on the left that is not blocked off (all the other paths you come across are private and closed off by a branch).

(4) Follow this track to the left until you reach a crossroads.

(5) By going back and forth, you can go right to the Gros Chêne.
Take the left-hand track and continue straight ahead until you come out of the Bois du Thuilay.

(3) Immediately turn right, following the edge of the wood to the first fork in the road.

(6) Turn left at a right angle and continue straight ahead between the fields until you reach a crossroads.

(7) Turn left at a right angle, go up between the fields, follow the edge of the small wood and turn right until you reach the fork in the road.

(2) Turn left again, in the opposite direction, and return to the town hall car park at Le Pâtis (S/E).

(5) 300 m from the path in the Bois de Tuilay, there is a remarkable oak named Jean Valjean ("Gros chêne" on the map).
