Park in front of the Espace des Mondes Polaires, which serves as the Tourist Office.
(S/E) Head towards Les Rousses. Cross the crossroads on the left, then the small car park and turn left: signposted "Sur le Goulet, Pont Perroud".
Before the nursery school, turn right onto Rue du Pont Perroud. Continue to the end: the tarmac road becomes a path leading into the forest, which branches off to the right and leads to a property. Pass to the right of the electricity pole (yellow mark), follow the wall above the houses to enter the forest. Follow the path down to the road leading to the farm called Sur le Goulet.
(1) Turn left onto the road towards Chez Jeankessis and, at the hamlet, you will come out onto the Morez-Prémanon road (D25). Cross the road; the path is slightly to the left of the pole topped with a yellow marker (high-voltage power line). When you reach a crossroads, turn right to go down to the Belvédère des Maquisards.
(2) At the sign for "Sur le belvédère" (To the viewpoint ), continue straight ahead. At the bottom, cross the D25 again to reach the viewpoint , which offers a remarkable view of the Bienne Valley (opposite), the Turu rock (to the right) and Mont Fier (to the left).
This viewpoint honours the memory of a young resistance fighter who died there at the end of August 1944 during a battle against the Germans who were heading towards Fort des Rousses, which was under siege by the Maquisards. Retrace your steps and walk back up the path for about 300 metres.
(2) At the signpost "Sur le belvédère" (To the viewpoint) pointing left towards "Sur le leat, Pont Perroud", turn left. Cross the D25 again and take the tarmac road that enters the forest, almost opposite and slightly to the left.
(3) When you come to a crossroads, you have two choices: turn left onto the fairly difficult path covered with large stones that descends directly (the route chosen)
or continue straight ahead (yellow mark on a tree: the path is unpaved, but when you reach the other path, it descends in a very steep and slippery zigzag).
You can hear the murmur of the leat de la Chaille, then you come to the old Pont Perroud bridge, the waterfall and the ruins of the old mill, which bear witness to the importance of energy in the Haut-Jura in the past for grinding, sawing, forging iron, etc.
(4) Cross the bridge and turn left towards "Le Bonzon, Les Rousses" on the path that climbs and quickly turns to the right.
(5) At the sign for "Le Bonzon", turn right towards "Sous le saut, leat de la Chaille, Prémanon".
(6) At the "Sous le saut" sign, turn right towards "La passerelle, leat de la Chaille, Prémanon". Cross the footbridge to climb up towards Prémanon, following the white and redGR® markings.
You will rejoin a tarmac road when you arrive at Prémanon d'Amont.
(7) Continue straight ahead from the "Les trolles" bus stop. Stay on the road to reach Prémanon and, once in the village, go straight ahead to return to the starting point (S/E).
