Barres de Font Blanche - Tête de Nige - Vallon de Carafa

Departure from the Fontblanche car park, on the edge of the^D3D. GPS data: lat. 43.256338, long. 5.669289.

(S/E) Follow the track for about 100 metres, then take the path on the left, between two tables, through the woods. After a slightly steep climb, you will quickly reach a crossroads, followed by a slight descent.

(1) Take the first path on the right, climb through the undergrowth and continue to a fork with a forest barrier.

(2) Pass through the barrier, walk alongside the Fontblanche stables with their beautiful horses and the smell of manure. Follow the path uphill, ignoring a wider path on the right, and you will reach a three-way junction.

(3) Keep to the right and follow the bottom of the valley. The path is circular and turns first left then right. It reaches a fork. Continue straight ahead and you will come to a hairpin bend on a track suitable for vehicles.

(4) Cross the track and continue straight ahead on this beautiful, open plateau until you reach a cross path.

(5) Turn left into the undergrowth and rejoin the carriageway you crossed earlier.

(6) Follow it to the right and reach the next fork. Enjoy the unobstructed view and beautiful scenery.

(7) Take a sharp right turn and continue along the track until you reach a small fork. Turn left and you will soon arrive at a flat area with a DFCI water tank.

(8) After enjoying the view, continue along the track to the left. Keep left at the three-way junction and you will reach a multiple junction. Continue straight ahead, then after about 150 m, turn left. Continue for about 200 m and, at a slightly open section, you will find a discreet path on the left, hidden by vegetation.

(9) Take this path, which becomes more visible after a few metres. It's a nice 200-metre trek. The path branches off to the left and enters the undergrowth, climbing upwards to join a track. Keep to the right and you will reach a viewpoint at the wide bend to the left.

(10) Continue along the track, quickly pass a hairpin bend to the right, then go straight ahead until you find a path on the left in a straight line.

(11) Take this path, continue straight ahead at the next fork, and you will reach a cross path.

(12) Turn left, walk along a field with several beehives, and stay on the main path.

(13) At the three-way junction, keep to the right and continue until you reach the initial three-way junction.

(1) Turn left and follow the same route back to the Fontblanche car park (S/E).

(S/E) Fontblanche reception area with a large car park and a large number of wooden and stone tables, which is very well equipped.

Several shortcuts are possible, but not recommended in order to preserve the beauty of the hike.
