At the entrance to Saint-Jeannet, park in the free car park in the bend below.
(S/E) Follow the wooden signs for "Baou de la Gaude St-Jeannet" and take the south stairs to exit the car park. Follow the road into Saint-Jeannet, then cross the village heading north. On the way, admire the magnificent wash house and join the concrete path Chemin du Baou. At the end of this path, rejoin theGR®51and then marker 2.
(1) Begin your ascent towards Baou de la Gaude. Follow the wooden signs marked Baou de la Gaude. You will reach a crossroads of paths at marker no. 3.
(2) Turn right towards Baou de la Gaude and begin your ascent, reaching the intersection marked with marker 9.
(3) Turn right again towards the summit of Baou and you will come to another crossroads at marker 10.
(4) Continue right on the uphill path to easily reach the summit of Baou de la Gaude. Take advantage of this spot to admire the view.
(5) Retrace your steps back to the crossroads at marker 10.
(4) Do not descend by the same route, but turn right onto the Colle trail, which descends gently and offers magnificent views of Baou de Saint-Jeannet and old enclosed fields with dry stone walls. Continue to marker 11.
(6) Continue descending in the same direction, keeping straight ahead to reach marker 12, where you will find an old sheepfold in a place called Le Clos de l'Évêque (large terraced meadows).
(7) Turn left to descend towards Saint-Jeannet and rejoin the original path at marker 9.
(3) Follow the same route as on the way up to the crossroads at marker 2.
Here you have two choices:
- you can descend exactly the same way as on the way up and pass through the village again,
- or you can turn left at a place called Romeguière. Then finish your descent to the car park (S/E).
