Walk through La Chapelle-sur-Erdre to the Rupt

This walk allows you to discover, over the course of a few kilometres, green corridors, the meadows of La Chapelle-sur-Erdre and, above all, the Étang du Rupt, which offers a truly beautiful landscape. You can follow the course of the Rupt upstream along a steep path through the woods for a real change of scenery.

Description of the walk

You can park in the car park next to the Jean Jaures bus stop. The walk is accessible via bus 86, getting off at the Jean Jaures stop.

(S/E) Follow the green corridor of the old railway line until you reach the junction with Rue du Plessis.

(1) Continue along the greenway until you see the sports hall on your right.

(2) Then leave the green corridor and turn right towards the sports hall. Walk round it and take the path on the left, which forms part of several walking trails, though the route described here does not follow these other paths.
Those who do not wish to tackle the rugged section of the route can turn off here. At the very least, it is recommended that you head down to the viewpoint overlooking the Rupt, as the descent is not very long.
Follow the Rupt along the path, which narrows as you go.

(3) On the right at the start of the route is a path leading downhill, which you’ll use for the return journey. Continue straight on until you reach the edge of the Étang du Tertre after crossing a footbridge.

(4) Turn left and follow the path to its end.

(5) You can carry on through the forest and do a round trip. For those who prefer not to venture too far, turn back and return to the footbridge.

(4) Turn left before the footbridge onto a path and head towards the hamlet known as Le Tertre.

(6) Turn back and return to the footbridge.

(4) Walk back up to the path just before thefirst building.

(3) Turn left onto the path running alongside the meadow. Just before the end of this path, take the green corridor on the right which runs alongside the building on your left. Cross a road, then continue left along a path before turning right just after a pond. Continue along the edge of the field and, at the corner of the field, turn right into the woodland. Cross a two-lane road and reach a cross-path. Turn left, cross two streets and arrive at Rue du Plessis. Continue to the right and return to the original junction.

(1) Turn left and return to the car park next to the Jean Jaures bus stop (S/E).

Worth a visit

The view of the Rupt, which forms a sort of lake at this spot, is well worth a look.

A route that alternates between quiet roads and nature trails. The appeal of this walk lies in its proximity to the pond. Unfortunately, the trail does not go all the way round the pond, which would have been a real bonus for this walk.
