Start: Fresnay-sur-Sarthe, Place Carnot. Yellow markings
(S/E) Walk down Place Carnot and turn right onto Rue Saint-Sauveur. At the top of this street, cross Rue Hatton and head towards Saint-Ouen. Continue straight on until you reach the outskirts of Fresnay. Take the first left after the cemetery.
(1) At the stadium, take the stony path on the right. Cross the bypass (D299) to rejoin the road on the right opposite.
(2) Turn left and take the first path immediately on the right.
(3) Cross Rue des Champagnes (crossroads) and pass the hamlet of Les Petits Prés.
(4) When the road bends left, take the track on the right which continues in the same direction. Before the hamlet of La Ruisselée, turn right then left to rejoin the D106Bis and thus bypass this hamlet (on your left).
(5) Follow the path to the right until you reach the tarmac road. Take this road to the left and head towards the hamlet of Le Cerisier.
(6) Then turn left. At the Y-junction ahead, take the road on the right. At a Fork in the road, continue along this same road (right-hand lane).
(7) At the next junction, turn left onto Chemin de Champ Perrine (first section is a dirt track, second section is tarmac). Turn left with the track and you’ll come to a T-junction with a road. Then turn right.
(8) At the next junction, turn left and ignore the road coming from the right (crossroads).
(9) At the crossroads, turn right. Ignore the side streets and turn right onto Rue du Lavoir, leaving the wash house on your left. Ignore a side street on the right and, at the hamlet of Le Bois Cochin, continue straight on along a dirt track and rejoin the GR®.
(10) Turn left. Continue straight on until you reach the hamlet of Les Carries.
(11) Take the road on the left.
(12) At the crossroads (cross), turn right onto the D106bis.
(13) Take the first path on the left. Continue straight on along theGR® to the hamlet of Musse Vilain.
(14) Walk through the hamlet and continue along the road.
(15) Before reaching the hamlet of La Cohue, turn right. Pass the hamlet of L'Osier.
(16) Cross the Ruisseau de Rocher Reine stream, then take the path immediately on the left. Continue along theGR® which turns sharply left, passes under a high-voltage power line, then turns right and again sharply left towards the Moulin de Rance.
(17) Follow the D15 to the left for about a hundred metres, then turn right towards the hamlet of Le Bas Rance. Before reaching the house, take the path on the left. At the top of the path (cross), turn right to join the dirt track on your left a little further on. Pass through the hamlet of La Grange.
(18) Take the road on the left. At the next junction, take the path opposite. Follow the Chemin du Pré Vert downhill to reach Rue du Bourgneuf in Fresnay-sur-Sarthe. On your right you will see the entrance to the vineyard hillside.
(19) Continue straight on, following the River Sarthe (on your right).
(20) At the fork in the road, turn left, then take the steps on the right 20 metres further on. Cross the park to reach Place Carnot (S/E).
