Departure: from the sports grounds in Le Plessis Curé in the commune of Liré, there are several parking options. Follow the brown or yellow signs.
(S/E) Walk along the sports grounds via Rue du Stade. At the crossroads, go straight ahead and continue on the small path that leads to the ford. Cross the stream (not recommended in winter as there is a lot of water) and walk up opposite to the mill.
(1) At the crossroads, at the end of the path, you will see a pretty mill on your left. Turn right immediately and head towards La Coptière, heading north-west, and follow the road for 600 metres.
(2) At the crossroads, turn right towards La Mitrosière, enter the hamlet and go downhill. On the left between two houses, find the signpost for the exit towards the gully. Cross the small bridge and climb up through the vineyards for 200m. At the fork, turn right to join Le Plantis, then L'Ardacière in the extension. Cross the gully and climb up to a dirt track.
(3) Turn right for 500 metres and at the T-junction, take the tree-lined path opposite which descends towards the Robinets stream.
(4) Cross the stream and turn right to climb up towards the castle, pass through the car park and head towards the ruins.
(5) Here, you can walk around the castle, the park and the pond and visit the ruins of the former castle of Joachim du Bellay.
At the exit, towards the road, take a beautiful path on the right that runs alongside the centre's service buildings and continue to a T-junction. Turn right towards Le Plessis and the sports fields (S/E).
